Is it really gold in color? I purchased gold leaf from China and it’s really pale and cheap looking, like a 10k finish rather than 14k or 18k look.

Yes, Imitation gold leaf will tarnish. If you seal this with a clear sealant it will stay untarnished.

There are several videos from a custom painter that show how to hand turn gold leaf, for a machined look. I cannot remember his name, but had been custom painting for 30+years.
