Has everything I was looking for in a speaker box!
This speaker box has a lot of features that are up-to-date options that many others do not. In fact, I could not find any other speaker box that does everything this one does. Specifically- 1) Sound quality- rich and full with plenty of high end, and certainly plenty of low end (more than some people are looking for), with mid-range perhaps a bit understated. Unless you are entertaining a big party outdoors or using for some other big event, you'll have more than you need sound-wise. Also, the unit has an equalizer which can be set to several generic settings, such as flat, rock, vocal, salsa, reggae, & hip-hop. up and down tuner presets, X-bass (which is overkill really) 2) Weight and size- it's big and heavy, especially loaded with 10 (yes, TEN) D-cell batteries. So you won't be carrying this around much, although it does have sturdy handles on both ends. Most people will plant this somewhere in the house, or maybe on the deck sometimes, and plug in the AC for regular use. 3) Inputs- This is where it gets interesting. You have good Bluetooth connectivity, and you can easily pair it with your phone or an MP3 player (that has bluetooth capabilities). It has an "audio in" port, which you can use to connect any player that does not have bluetooth capabilities. Most importantly for me, it also has a USB port, which is invaluable. The port can be used to play from a flash drive directly, with both repeat and random options available, and can access a drive with over 65,000 song on it. I have a 125 gb drive I plug in, and that's most of my music catalog. It displays what is being played against a blue background. The unit also comes with a tuner, which you can program how you like. Personally I like to play Pandora from my phone. Also has microphone and guitar inputs on the back. 4) Power supply- AC cord provided of course, but the USB port can also be used to charge your phone or your MP3 player, even when you're using D-cell batteries! The batteries last a long time, many hours of constant use, with some variance depending on battery quality, volume, use of blue flashing woofer strobes (turn 'em off), and whatever else you may have plugged in to charge up. I'm going to be on an island for a week, and I plan to have music all the time, either with the box, which also has a headphone jack, or with my charged up MP3 player, or my phone, in any combination that suits my surroundings. I'll never have to look for an AC socket! For charging other gadgets using battery power, be aware of any power saving mode that may be on. Unplug AC when using batteries. Unit has no rechargeable battery, and you cannot use rechargeable batteries. 5) Remote control- Comes with a very well designed, easy to use remote, which allows you to control play/pause/stop for both Bluetooth and USB, audio input, pairing button, display options, USB folder options, program memory, navigation circle, dimmer for lighting, Audio settings, Echo effect, volume and mute buttons. There is no CD or tape player included in this unit (so what?). I hope this is helpful for people who are looking for specific features.

Sharp GX-BT9X Sounds Good FM Reception is Bad
Just Received the Boombox Today The USB & Bluetooth Playback works Good I own a few JVC rv-nb1 Kaboom boxes & a few boxes from the 80's and 90's The Sharp I think has more Bass then the JVC kaboom. and the sound on the Sharp is a little clearer depending on what EQ setting you use. Also it depends where you place the boombox on the floor it seems to have more bass then being on a table. One negative thing I would say about the Sharp is that the FM Radio Reception is Terrible not sure why but my JVC has better Reception & that's not even the best radio I have as far as radio reception is. Also there is no AM radio that's not a big deal for me but to others it might be. Another thing I would say is that the EQ presets don't seem to make that much difference in the sound it would be nice to have a customizable EQ with a 7 or 10 band adjustable EQ some songs sound great with the xbass on and some have a little too much maybe also you can't have xbass on with the other EQ settings. But for what this radio is and the price it's really a good deal it beats any radio I've heard from the 80's or 90's with the kaboom being a close second. They are probably two of the best radios I have ever heard without spending a few hundred dollars. Sure there may be better but not for the price I paid I may update this review as I just got it & I need to test a few more things to make sure they work. I do wish the FM radio was better the reception was kind of disappointing. You think in 2025 they could make a tuner that can pick up more stations. Not sure if there is some way to improve it.

You won't be disappointed!
I use this in the garage with my iPhone's Pandora via Bluetooth and let me tell you, this thing jams! You can choose to select the "loudness-bass" button for those tracks that absolutely need it, but without it it sounds fantastic as well. It may require a tad more volume without, but depending on the track, the sound is full and true! Although it's a coaxial speaker on each side up front, it sounds smooth like a silk tweeter would, as compared to metal alternatives that I have determined are not for me and the music I tend to listen to! (i.e.- Allman Bros, Stones, Radiators, GD, DM, you get the idea!) It has the 4+ inch bass speakers on each side behind the handles and they light up with a blue light shimmering to the beat. I didn't think I'd like that option at first, but it's grown on me! It will also store up to 40 (?) FM Only Radio Stations and you can choose for it to do so automatically or manually. Each station I identified in the LCD and the remote has buttons to scroll up or down on the preset stations. I haven't hooked it up yet, but it even has both a 3.5m stereo mini plug for portable music players as well as a Banana Plug-in for guitar! I consider myself a mid range audiophile as I outfit my cars with speakers that cost many times more than the cost of this device and all I can say with a smile on my face "this Box delivers!"

difficult remote navigation
remote needs Folder buttons that say which folder, big, big, big buttons with the word Folder on them like the Sharp 20W retro mahogany woodgrain one, have to use a magnifying glass to see on the remote if you are having a drinking happy hour, I think mine is shot, it is 6 years old so maybe it is too far away from waranty, it now can't switch folders w/o punching on each song until that folder is over, it used to switch any folder you wanted, the 100W sound is right on, a 100W speaker is a 2-3' high stereo speaker, so this boombox is like them, you have to rip a cd to WMP, then burn it to a usb, it won't play cds, 20W boomboxes would sound weak w/o bass sound worth listening to unless you sat right next to it, I had one of those of another brand and it was too weak sounding, switched to this, I am looking at that 20W mahogany because of the simple remote for happy hour use for a 73 year old, also it quit resetting if it was unplugged and then replugged in

The Deep bass is excellent. The boombox its self is huge
I did a lot of research on YouTube with comparison to other boomboxs. In one comparison this boombox out preformed (Bose speekers). The Deep bass is excellent. The boombox its self is huge. The music sounds excellent in my home. I'm also using it as a sound bar for my T.V. running a red and white audio jack straight from the Direct t.v Box, with a 3.5 mm tip Running into the auxiliary hole in the back of the boombox. Turning the t.v all the way down and just using the boombox. Im going to have to get a usb to usb cord. To run the sound through my xbox which I have not done yet. I had the JVC kaboom, this box is better. The price is good as it gets for this thumpn bass sound. You won't get those really high tweeters, but the mid range is very good. Th e Bluetooth work great while listening to Pandora. UPDATED. I'VE hooked up my xbox to the auxiliary, best sound bar you could buy. Playing movies sounds like you're in the theatre. My money well spent.

Careful. No customer support from Sharp customer support
This unique boombox is operating as expected. However, i listen to FM radio on occasion, and one must adjust the antenna for best reception....otherwise why have an external antennae that can swivel / rotate? Well, you probably guessed it...the antenna broke, about an inch from where it is attached. Not from stress, but from a weak spot in the antenna itself. So...I contacted Sharp about this, and they (even after they said it was reviewed by their "escalated review team" ) said to me about 4 different times that it was my fault and they wont even consider sending me a replacement $2.00 antenna. They didn't even offer to sell me one. Just that I am on my own after spending over $200.00 on this unit. They even phoned me to deny my claim, and in the background I could hear other phone operators ....probably denying other people's claims. So, I am waiting for the next thing go wrong with this unit...knowing Sharp have people employed to deny responsibilities. Other companies have customer service people that work hard at growing their company through Goodwill and great customer loyalty and relations. I was warned about buying a Sharp, but I did it anyways. So, I guess overall, this IS my fault !

OK boombox not good as guitar/vocal amp
I've had this thing for a couple yrs and as a boom box it is ok. fairly good sound quality and gets loud enough in most settings. The remote is weak and limited to maybe 30-40 ft.. I recently decided to try the "audio in" since my acoustic guitar amp crapped out. DO NOT buy this if you plan to use this as a guitar/vocal (mic) amp, it has an annoying condition where it MUTES the inputs when there is no sound and UNMUTES when you pick/strum the guitar or sing. the issue is there is a DELAY when it unmutes so you lose 1/2 second of music/singing! This is the way it is designed (STUPID) and no way to defeat it. This makes the "audio input" totally worthless. Otherwise, it is heavy bulky but ok as a boom box
