Josh's Frogs Black Soldier Fly Larvae (50 Count - Large)

We order some BSFL for our Bearded Dragon about once a month or so to supplement his primary cricket diet. He's just growing out of his "baby" stage and still on a protein heavy diet. The BSFL are a great, natural source of calcium which many feeder insects lack. We ordered 250 from Josh's Frogs and our Beardie gobbled them down in a matter of days, he absolutely loved them. All larvae arrived alive and on time. I can't comment on the size of them as I don't have enough experience with BSFL to confidently say the sizes of the larvae are true and accurate but there was at least 250 of them in the container. Yet another perfect delivery from Josh's Frogs.

I’ve ordered from Josh’s Frogs on Amazon twice now, for black soldier fly larvae to get my compost bin going. The first time I ordered one container of 1000 large, and the second time I ordered 2 containers. The first time they arrived quickly and alive and well, and they did great getting my compost going. The second time I ordered more recently was because I thought I had accidentally killed them all in the Texas heat by not giving them supplemental water, because one day I looked in the bin and didn’t see any parent flies or larvae when digging around. Once I ordered more, and got advice that let me know my mistake, I then did see more parent flies, so they were not *all* dead, luckily. They can tolerate pretty dang high heat, but they do need moisture and I had let my compost dry out too much. I won’t make that mistake again! The second batch was delayed in shipping, which is not JF’s fault at all, and despite the stickers on the box saying to store upright, were left in my mailbox parcel container on their side - but they were still alive, I couldn’t find a single larvae that was dead. And they were all a great size, many were even the dark color that indicates they’re almost ready to pupate, and about an inch long, which is the biggest they get. I’m very happy with the service as well- they replied to my question about how long they can survive in transit very quickly, and assured me if they didn’t arrive in good condition that I’d get a refund or replacement. Couldn’t be happier! And I highly recommend these fellas for composting - they will eat anything and everything (unlike sensitive and picky earthworms), and will turn your food scraps into amazing compost in a few short months. They are sustainable and good for the environment, and a GREAT food for chickens if you have them - and they will also compost chicken poo, making it into amazing fertilizer. An absolute must-have for any home gardener, no matter the size of your garden.

Josh's Frogs is a very reliable company to work with when it comes to different types of reptile foods and will make good on any issues. My go to for lizard foods.

I absolutely love Josh’s frogs store. I have not been disappointed yet. These guys were all white and alive when I got them.!! so happy with every purchase. They always come sooner than expected, and I am just so happy. I even went on their website and subscribed to them and looking forward to buying more and more and more. Cricket next. lol I would highly definitely recommend this place for sure.

They look like wasps not flies. My spoods wouldn’t touch them.

These are the smallest Bfsl I have ever seen. They arrived within estimated time frame and I still have some alive and it’s been months so that’s something, but it takes my beardy forever to eat them cause she just stares into the bowl and looks back at me she doesn’t this for about an hour then she will see one move enough and jump on but man it takes her forever and I think it’s cause she can’t really see them lolol. Idk I would of loved to reorder but I bought large and definitely didn’t get them. So I won’t be ordering again. It’s frustrating especially when I paid for larger, maybe don’t charge by the size then if your not gonna give people what they pay for.. huh?!? Maybe a partial refund. Lol idc just once I’d like a company to just do what they say they will, just once 😣🙄

All arrived alive. There seemed to be a variety of ages/sizes in larvae which was perfect for me; my smaller spiders can eat the tiny larvae while my larger jumpers feast on the older ones. They really love any flies that periodically hatch too, and the staggered larvae ages has provided a wonderful long-lasting feeding option. Today is 10/17 and I actually still have a few left! Will definitely be purchasing more in the future.

2nd time I have purchased from this vendor on Amazon. Very happy and healthy BSF live larvae that come in perforated plastic container packed with just enough wiggle room for the BSF larvae but not so much room it's dangerous to them. They seem pretty active and hungry upon arrival as they should be and seem to be very well cared for in a size appropriate cardboard box with live insects inside label on the box. This time it even included a little seemingly hand written thank you for your business note from Eric (not sure if it's just a font or was truly handwritten individually)... Either way it was a very nice touch and as usual it contained the basic care instructions for BSF larvae too.
