Plugable USB to Ethernet Adapter, USB 3.0 to Gigabit Ethernet

Arrived on time and in good condition. Works great.

I bought this Adapter for a unique application I have a server that runs windows 2003 server on a Pentium 3 machine. Because of the ancient software running on a PC with only PCIe busses I could not get a network card to work on newer hardware with older architecture. THIS CARD WORKED PERFECT! When I read the product packaging it said Win 10 & later as minimum requirement. When I plugged it in, it did not work. Windows Server 2003 did not see the card. I went to Plugable's support page & found the correct driver, loaded it in & I was up & running. Now I am able to connect to all the network equipment internet & printers. Great card!

Adapter: Plugable USB 3.0 to Gigabit Ethernet Adapter Chipset: ASIX AX88179 (confirmed via lsusb on Linux) Tested On: Linux (Fedora 42 Xfce Spin): Plug-and-play. Windows 11: Untested. macOS: Untested. Performance: Negotiates at full 1000 Mb/s (1 Gbps) speed on linux. On Nintendo Switch you are limited to Fast Ethernet limits, so 100 Mbps theoretical max probably less due to overhead. Realistically you will probably see around 80 Mbps down and 29 Mbps up max. This is due to the Nintendo limiting the USB bandwidth the device can realistically use. No way around this except to use a different chipset to offload some of the performance limiting factors off the Switch and onto the adapter. An Adapter using the ASIX AX88179B chipset is probably your best chance to get around these limitations. Pros: Works on PC and Nintendo Switch. Notes: USB 3.0 is required for full Gigabit performance. Avoid plugging into USB 2.0 ports if you want max throughput. Not a driverless model like the newer AX88179B or AX88772E, but still widely supported Verdict: Great cross-platform USB NIC for anyone who wants a stable, fast Ethernet connection via USB. Highly recommended for Linux users thanks to built-in kernel support, and equally easy on Windows.

Be warned that maxing such a device is more on your network be it local or through your isp. your usb controller can also be a factor too. The device had no problem doing a decent job of getting near my practical max on this att fiber of 300/300. I noticed this device has some drop off for bandwidth but it has more consistency and latency as a result. I don't use my devices for bandwidth considering cake is my main queueing discipline on my router. Good to see someone offering usb ethernet that offers decent features to enable or disable. There are ton of energy based options, offloads, and others for latency that help. My favorite that I didn't find on a lot of realtek based devices was interrupt moderation. Thank you including option to disable flow control, your router doesn't use so you shouldn't it just adds artificial latency. Offloads and these two settings hold your packets for a finite amount of time, this is bad for fighters or shooters or anything you want response in. There is a cd that comes, but didn't need it. By the time I plugged in and came back from getting a drink it already installed and then let windows update use most update driver it could find. Used it to beast 4 games of valorant in a row, never felt consistency like this on wireless so glad I took charge and just got amazon for this.

This solved my laptop internet speed issue. My 7 year-old laptop wasn’t getting the Gig speed I just signed up for. It is attached to a Plugable UD-3900 USB 3.0 universal docking station which I have had for 9 years. When I upped my internet speed to Gig level, the laptop wasn’t getting near that speed. Even though the docking station was purchased a while ago, Plugable tech support helped me troubleshoot. It took a few emails over a few days and some testing on my part, but a solution (this adapter) was able to be recommended. It worked like a charm. That old laptop is flying. I highly recommend the Plugable products. Their products work really well and you won’t find better support.

Let me say up front that I do not anticipate using this adapter very much. I have a DSL modem with integrated WiFi router, so don't have much need for wired Ethernet. However, occasionally I do need to connect to the router directly. My desktop computer is off in a distant room and I use a Chromebook (which does not have an Ethernet port) around the house, so recently when I needed to connect to the router's Ethernet port I had to go find and then fire up my seldom-used Windows laptop to do the job. Quite by coincidence I read a discussion of Ethernet adapters on a Chromebook Google Community recently and noted that the Plugable brand was recommended by several users. The price looked good and the specs specifically stated that Linux and ChromeOS are supported, so I ordered one. Even before I received the adapter with two-day Prime shipping I got an email from Plugable with support information and thanking me for my purchase. Well done Plugable! Upon receipt the first thing I noticed was how easy it was to open the packaging, which is the plastic clam shell type, but with a simple tab closure rather than the sealed edges that require either a knife or scissors to open. I opened my Chromebook, turned off WiFi, cabled up the adapter and plugged it in to a USB port and I was immediately on line. I ran a speed test and everything checked out just fine. I've added the Plugable to my collection of adapters (USB C to A, USB C to HDMI, HDMI to VGA, etc.) and know that it will do the job when next it is needed.

I received my Plugable USB 3.0 to 10/100/1000 Gigabit Ethernet LAN Network Adapter (ASIX AX88179 chipset on Jan. 4, 2017. I installed it on my old Dell Inspiron about a month after it arrived; (hence my late review). I have nothing but good things to say about this USB adapter. I installed it's newest driver from Plugable's website ( from the link in the email they sent me just before my adapter arrived ). That's good customer service right there. Then with driver installed I went ahead and connected it to my pc's USB 2.0 port. ( I can't use my USB 3.0 ports for anything as they are wacky for anything I try to do with them.) My internet service provider is providing me with a 3 mbps connection over telephone line which I never attained before I got this adapter from Plugable. I was immediately connected to internet and now I enjoy getting around 3.81 mbps speed from my 3 mbps service. I forget what I used to get but it was nowhere what I am getting now. ( It was a SAD speed, not memorable at all. ) JOY! For me this Plugable adapter ROCKS. It just WORKS without any slowdowns or disconnects. It hasn't had a hiccup since I started using it. Very pleased with this adapter and plan to order another one for 'just in case' as there is NO WAY I'm going back to the days of the slower internet speed. Believe me, when you have internet as slow as I do, EVERY LITTLE BIT COUNTS! Forgot to say I'm using Windows 7 Home Premium.

自宅で東芝Chromebook2（CB35-B3340）をWi-Fi接続していて電波が不安定な場所があるので、有線LANアダプタ（USB3-E1000）を注文しました。ASIX社のAX88179チップを使用。USB 3.0 とギガビット対応で実質600 Mbps 、無線より高速で安定したネット接続ができそうです。 海外のサイトで「Chromebookで使えた」というレビューはありますが機種名が書いてないので使えるか疑問でした。無事、ケーブルを接続しただけで有線（イーサネット接続済）に自動で切り替わりました。ルータ配下のGS105スイッチに1000MBで接続されてます。ブラウザも少し速くなった感じです。有線なので安定してます。 ＜気に入ったところ＞ 1. Chromebookに対応した有線LANアダプタは少ないです。Chromebook2（CB35-B3340）で、接続するだけで無線から有線に自動で切り替わりました。切り離すと無線になります。自動で切り替わるので便利。通常は無線で使い、電波が不安定なところにLANケーブルをひいておけばよさそう。高速でファイル転送したいときや出張にも使えます。 2. アダプタにランプが2つあり障害切り分けに使えます。 「Link」黄→ケーブル接続で点灯。「Activity」緑→データ転送で点滅。 3. 有線なので電波が悪い環境でも使え安定。そして高速。 4. メーカーのサポートは良さそう。注文したら、最新のドライバーの紹介と質問があればどうぞとメールが来ました。サイトを見るとChrome OSは最新のシステムアップデートで対応してるみたい。 →（追記） 日本語担当のスタッフがおられます。サポートはしっかりしていて迅速に対応してもらえました。 ＜気になったところ＞ 1. LANケーブルの差込口がえらく硬いのでUSBコネクタ側で抜き差ししたほうが無難です。個体差？ →（追記） 個体差でした。メーカーサポートの代替品で確認。サポートに感謝。 2. コネクタが長めの形状で目立ちます。細いので携帯はしやすいです。 3. 添付のドライバCD（Windows およびMac 用）が8cmCDなのでフロントローディングのドライブでは使えません。サイトでダウンロードできるし、Chromebookでは要りません。 4. Windows RTとAndroid では使えません。ARMベース（例. NVIDIA Tegra 3）はダメみたい。気になるTegra K1のChromebookでは…？ 5. Logitec LAN-GTJU3 に似てるけど？ MACアドレスの先頭は8C-AE-4Cかな？でも仕様が違って使えないかも…。 ＜追記＞ 2015 0326 差込口が堅いとのストア購入レビューを見たとのことで、メーカーのサポートより、抜き差し確認済のLAN アダプタをわざわざアメリカから送ってもらえました。個体差だったようで調子はいいです。サポートに感謝。 参考まで。

Ich bin Softwareentwickler und Administrator. Ich brauchte ein USB Gigabit LAN mit Qualität. Große Datenmengen und Latenz spielen eine Rolle. Das Gerät sollte mir im Beruf und privat nützen. Ich habe dies gewählt aufgrund des Chipsatzes. Viele der parameter lassen sich bearbeiten und anpassen (gerade in Firmen braucht man die ab und zu). Viele Features sind unterstützt. Das ist kein Billig-Chip der die Performance nicht bringt. Sowohl unter Linux als auch unter Windows keine Probleme. Im Job bei der Entwicklung sind Zeitkritische operationen alsolut perfekt gemeistert, in der Administration Backups umherschieben in Windeseile. Keine Treiber nötig (bei meinen Anwendungsfällen), einfach einstecken, einrichten und los gehts. Nach den Tests hab ich den Adapter für meinen Compute Stick mit Kodi (auf ArchLinux) verpflichtet. Hochauflösende Videos von Netflix, Prime, Youtube, Twitch sind im Vergleich zu WLAN kein Problem mehr. Da der dort fest eingesetzt ist hab ich direkt noch einen zweiten mit USB A bestellt und wenn mein neuer Laptop die nächsten Monate verfügbar wird, werde ich mir den Stick auch mit USB C holen. Ich kann wirklich nur zu diesem Adapter raten. Wer etwas vernünftiges haben möchte ist gut beraten. Plugable bietet auch Kombinationen an mit LAN und weiteren USB Buchsen, für Laptop benutzer möglicherweise genau das geeignete. Das einzige was ich noch nicht getestet habe sind Konsolen wie die Wii U oder Switch, verweise aber auf die Erfahrungen in den anderen Rezensionen.

Veramente poco da dire. Prodotto ineccepibile. Collegato alla porta USB 3 del mio notebook Honor Magic Book Pro, dopo pochi secondi era già pronto e lo speed test con Ookla mi ha dato un risultato di circa 800 Mbps. Cosa chiedere di più!. Vale ampiamente i soldi spesi.

If you are having problems running this adapter reliably when streaming heavy content, you need to configure Window's to rate limit the adapter instead of pulling the entire 1Gbp/s. Might be a problem since I have a rather old CPU (i7 7600u) and that is causing dropouts or driver restarts. Other than that the adapter works fine for 100% of content usage. Watching 1080p 60fps videos, downloading large datasets, cloning large github repositories (all simulataneously).
