The unfinished 'A' grade veneer allows for custom staining or finishing, delivering authentic wood grain variation and a cost-effective restoration solution. ## Description 10 mil (Paperback) Peel and Stick Backer (Overall Thickness .024+/- .010) The 10 mil paper backed veneer provides stability and flexibility while helping to minimize splitting, grain-raise and glue seepage. Tenderized Paperback veneer will bend to wrap a 1" radius. Grain and Color appearance variation can be expected from sheet to sheet and lot to lot, it will vary from what is pictured because it is a natural wood product. Solvent-Based adhesive is recommended. Water based adhesives are not recommended. Adhesives should be allowed to cure for 48 hours prior to finishing. Ready for light stain and/or clear finish. Great for refacing, refurbishing, and repairing furniture, shelves, cabinets, ect. All veneer should be acclimated prior to application. Surface must be clean, dry and smooth to ensure a good bond. Machine Surface Sand of 150 grit. Veneer is sanded to a smooth uniform finish. I bought two rolls for my project. I unrolled them and let them sit to let the rolling relax. This made it easier to work with. Both my rolls came with the 3M glue backing.The first picture is the "before". It is a mid century dentist cabinet produced from Hamilton through the American Cabinet Company. The veneer was far too gone to save. I used a heat gun and scraper to remove the old veneer.I then sanded, and put on several layers of paint followed by a top coat of polyurethane. The purpose was to make as smooth a surface as possible for the 3M glue to adhere to. This worked great. The glue stuck immediately and I've had no issues with delamination.The second picture is the veneer before stain.I used walnut stain.I'm very happy with the results and would happily use this product again. Glue is sticky, so make sure you careful when applying.
