A great stick for those wanting more realistic, immersive control of flight sim style games. Especially if your on a budget.
I recently tried the War Thunder Beta and decided I needed a decent budget price joystick. Mouse and keyboard control is the simplest but not very rewarding neither does it feel like you are actually flying.I chose the Logitech Extreme 3D after reading some decent reviews and having used many Logitech products in the past and always been pleased with performance and reliability. The Logitech Extreme 3D Pro is no exception. It has been around and unchanged quite a few years. It has a heavy solid base with grippy rubber pads that stick to the desk without using suction cups or any other annoying contraptions. The stick feels solid and centers well. It’s not force feedback, but to be honest force feedback is mostly a gimmick and can put off your aim if it jolts at a bad moment. Modern planes do not use cables where old ones do so I suppose the force feedback may be nice in a biplane but anything modern probably not.It has full pitch, roll and yaw rudder control. Rudder by twisting the stick and 12 buttons plus a digital hat switch (small joystick on top).Setting up is dead simple. For best results calibrate your joystick with the OS first and then use the proprietary software. The stick is far more accurate than any of the game pads I used previously. The 360 and playstation sticks only managed about 70% of travel in the diagonals like a rounded diamond. Where the Logitech manages 0 – 100%The rudder works well but does need some discipline when you are flying a combat plane in a tense situation. In Arcade it’s not such a big deal, but in a more realistic flight model rudder can throw your plane into a flat spin which will put you out of action pretty fast. Especially if you don’t have the altitude to recover. The throttle works well but it very sensitive, especially at the top of the range. If you have afterburn and can push the throttle beyond max for short periods like you can in War Thunder you may want to get some software to allow you to set curves and ease off the top end of the throttle. The buttons are all precise digital buttons and the hat switch works well for looking around the plane and getting fair situation awareness. So for this game it’s a great. The stick comes with no software, but there is a profiler configuration program for it available from the Logitech website. It’s worth installing as it does offer you some flexibility if you play several games and want to tweak how the stick performs. If you want the ultimate utility for configuring the stick I recommend Pinnacle Game Profiler. Which lets you set a lot of actions with quite a lot of flexibility. Long button hold for alternate functions, or setting your own modifier/shift button. As well as custom dead zone, sensitivity etc.Anyway it’s a great stick. As I mentioned before mouse control is easiest with the game I’m playing. But joystick feels so much more real and immersive and gives you an edge if you use the more advanced combat modes with realistic physics. A great stick that I highly recommend. Especially for the relatively low price. It's a great beginner introductory stick to get you into flight sims.

Great side stick for Flight Simulator X
I use this stick for Microsoft Flight Simulator X on Windows 7 and Windows 10.-Compatibility-FSX automatically recognized the stick, even on Windows 10. I have seen people use it for other sims such as XP11 and P3D. The stick will not work on very old flight simulators such as Microsoft FS98 or 2000. Make sure you have FSX. Not sure if it will work for FS2004. Many people still enjoy this previous version, but Windows XP is not on compatibility list of this product. It will not automatically work on a mac.The side stick works great for windows vista, 7, 8, 8.1, and it worked on Windows 10 as well (official specifications only say Vista, 7, and 8)-Sensitivity-I have found that the stick is not too sensitive, you won't do aileron rolls and barrel rolls if you turn it a little bit.(But you will if you push it all the way left or right) The flap buttons aren't too sensitive either, one push will move the flaps down one level. The stick makes it easy to land an airliner (arrow keys are impossible to land with, as it is hard to set the yoke back to original position). I used to crash every time, but now make it on the runway.-Comfort-The stick will only be comfortable if you use your right hand. Keep the stick to the right side of your personal computer. There is a hand rest at the base of the stick, which is very helpful for long VFR flights without autopilot.I like the way it feels in my hand, until I start to sweat, then it feels uncomfortable (turn on autopilot or pause for a minute then).-Buttons-The little plus/minus slider controls thrust in FSX, other buttons control other essential controls such as flaps, trim, or landing gear the thumb button controls view, and the little trigger activates the ground breaks. Logitech has software you can download to change these settings.I think it is a good side stick, it serves me well with my Flight Simulator and I enjoy my flights more with it now.

Joystick for gaming
Got this so the kids could play war thunder and they have found other games to play with it. Not sure if it is compatible with anything except with the PC. It seems to be pretty durable since I have seen them slam it side to side and on the desk and it still works. There are a lot of different buttons that can be programed to different actions with in different games.
