Nice clutch kit for Subaru 2.5 L engine
I bought this as part of an engine transplant project on a 2002 Subaru Outback with a 2.5 L engine. The kit comes with clutch plate, pressure plate, pilot bearing, release bearing, and an alignment tool. I don't know how to judge the quality from looking at the components, but my research revealed that it was the OEM part for Subaru. It fit perfectly onto the flywheel and transmission input shaft and, after several hundred miles, seems to be working well. I don't know whether it was my doing (I had the flywheel machined, but it is possible that I inadvertently dirtied a part by touching it with dirty hands) or just the nature of the friction material, but it gave off a burning clutch smell for a few miles. The smell soon dissipated and the clutch works fine. It engages smoothly and does what I expect it to do. One part that I wish the manufacturer had included is the paper clip-looking clips that hold the release bearing on the fork. It seems likely that the old ones get heat stressed and should be replaced. A Subaru-specific problem that I ran into is that the transmission shaft housing (also called a snout or quill) had worn, perhaps due to omission of lubricant by a previous installer. The quill is made of aluminum, and the steel bearing can wear a groove in it. I bought a kit consisting of a steel sleeve and oversize release bearing, which added time and expense to the job. If you are doing a Subaru and the clutch engagement and release feels funny you may also have this problem, so you may wish to look into a sleeve kit before you dig into the job.

Complete KSB04 kit minus flywheel
The price seemed too good to be true, but nope it's a legit KSB04 kit! To be honest it hasn't moved yet, waiting on a few other parts. But according to my Subby guru mechanic it's a real Exxedy clutch kit, fits perfectly, and again looks correct so with the brand it is almost a foregone conclusion. Unless this is updated with a horror story you should probably just grab this clutch. It's not a trick, it's a legit KSB04 with the 2 bearings, clutch, pressure plate, alignment tool & lube. Again haven't driven it under power but will update. It for sure fits correctly, installs "easy" like it should, & is 100% the full kit! No worries. Just don't be like me, make sure you don't need a repair sleeve for your throwout bearing to slide on which requires a new throwout bearing clearanced for the sleeve (obviously not included). That's the only issue I had with install, not the kit's fault at all. 10/10 part quality from appearance & install.

good purchase
good kit, throw-out bearing was China, not Japan, hopefully same quality. Quick shipment.

OEM Replacement works gooooood.
It took my brother, a friend, and myself about 12 hours to pull the motor off of the transmission (leaving it in) of my 07 Subaru Impreza 2.5i, a pretty big project at my current level of automotive skill, expertise, and experience... don't laugh. We got it in with no major hiccups, it was pretty straight-forward and a great learning experience/confidence booster. Since then, nobody fixes my car but me, okay I did have an exhuast show bend an weld a custom fit exhuast system, but other than that, I do my own work.12,000 miles later, this cluch is still going strong. Replaced the original at 85k and I'm somewhere near 97k now. I did not replace/resurface the flywheel, no issues. I do wish that I had switch to a lightweight flywheel in hindsight, though. The kit works great! When putting the engine and transmission together, having the clutch within the pressure plate aligned correctly is crucial... we didn't have a whole lot of room to use the alignment tool, HINT use a hack saw and cut an inch or so off the tool for limited clearance if you're doing this in your driveway like I was.

2000 Subaru Outback
Outstanding price. Simply outstanding. This clutch DOES fit my 2000 Subaru Outback despite what the amazon website thinks. You could spend more on a single throwout bearing than this whole kit costs with the bearing included. I did the job by removing the transmission without a transmission jack because I am an idiot. I get some clutch shudder rignt now after my DIY install, which is likely due to my damaging the transmission rear mount. It was getting old and worn out anyway, and my shifting it around and putting weight on it without a transmission jack was the last straw. Another mount is on order. That said, the shudder is starting to subside, possibly as the clutch breaks in. [Edit: less than a day after this review, the shudder is gone, smooth shifts now. I guess the clutch broke in alright] I did not resurface the flywheel BTW, which you should seriously consider. While you are doing the clutch swap, you absolutely MUST check the oil separator plate. There will be a bunch of oil leaking from the bottom. Replace the oil separator plate with the updated stamped steel version and hex key screws. Use "anaerobic sealant" as you put the plate on. My car leaks a lot less oil now. Google the oil separator plate issue. Briansmobile1 on youtube shows how to do clutch jobs. I used the factory manual with the youtube videos and was able to do this job. Dont use a scissor jack to pick up the transmission like I did. It is 135 lbs and the car was on jack stands. Its just a bad situation, but I did it somehow. Rent/borrow a transmission jack.

KSB04 also fits the 2005 2.0 lt Non-Turbo Forester
Even though I was unable to get confirmation from Exedy or Amazon on compatibility of this kit with the 2.0 lt Non-Turbo Forester sold in some non-US international markets, I took a calculated risk and went ahead and ordered this item, based on clutch specifications listed in the Forester Service Manual. The clutch is a perfect fit and I am very satisfied with the performance. The parts, especially the clutch cover and plate are obviously of high quality. Probably the same parts Exedy supplies to Subaru as OEM.A word about AmazonGlobal shipping that I used for this and another item earlier as an international customer. Very happy with the fast and hassle-free international shipping. The customs pre-pay option is great and I faced zero issues with customs.
