I wrote this to help other patients who need to cut small pills. I am not affiliated with any company, and didn't receive any freebies. I need to split them into quarters. Please note that for all pill cutters, it's best to press slowly to get a more accurate cut. In order of best to worst: Fullicon Pill Cutter for Small or Large Pills, 5 stars My first choice: I highly recommend for accurate cutting of small pills. Pros: Highly accurate, because there's an insert for every shape of pill. The pill-shaped inserts mean that the pill cannot slip, so it removes user error. Affordable Cons: Flimsy Plastic Single blade design gives a tiny amount of powder. If they could redesign this with a double blade, it would be amazing! I'd also like inserts shaped like half a pill, as it would be super accurate. Equal Split Pill Splitter, Double Blades, 5 stars My joint first choice: I highly recommend for accurate cutting of small pills. Pros: Easy to position pill Gives an accurate cut because it has 2 blades Produces almost no powder Simple, elegant design Highly durable metal construction Cons: Prone to user error I'd like to see the base plate have vertical markings to aid the user in placing the pill accurately. Once placed, the cut is accurate. Please note that you place the pill flat, not on its rounded end. The advantage is that you can see clearly where the cut will be, and it's more accurate. When I tried to place a pill upright, balanced on its curved end, although the cut is a shorter distance, it was less accurate. Equadose Pill Cutter V2: 4 stars I have used this for a long time, recommended. Pros: Double blade gives very accurate cuts Safe, retractable blade Creates clean halves No powder or crushing Cons: Flimsy plastic When cutting a small pill into quarters, it's hard to position a half pill, and is occasionally prone to inaccuracy and slipping. Auvon Scissors-Shaped Pill Cutter: 3 stars for small pills Pros: Durable, sturdy design Inexpensive Cuts accurately Almost no powder or crushing Cons: With small pills, it's hard to see exactly where the cut will happen. And, being scissors, the blades don't meet in the middle, they slide past each other, so I didn't get a perfect cut. This design is prone to user error. I would rate it more highly with large pills, but it didn't get the job done for small pills. This is a really thoughtful and well-designed product. I'm impressed. It comes with everything you need—the pill splitter plus multiple inserts to match your pill size and even a small storage box for the inserts and another for the pills themselves. It also comes with a very well-laid out mini instruction booklet, where I learned that the back of the pill splitter is openable and designed that way so you can easily clean out any pill dust afterwards. Very thoughtful, like I said. Not there is much dust after. It cuts really cleanly and I can finally get equal halves for pain meds I take for migraines. Important that they are even! And now they are. Glad I kept looking. I've used these successfully on small tablets and wax troches so far. I ordered a separate one for the troches since I didn't want to get wax on the blade cutting the tablets. Got a back-up, too. Don't want to be without them. Very happy with this very effective device.

The silicone stabilizer pieces are the key difference in this unit vs others. It does a pretty good job of keeping it in place and cutting the pill as needed. Sometimes not a clean 50% cut as the blade doesn’t 100% match the open line. This is kinda a slow process but worthwhile if you are needing more precision of cuts esp for expensive or powerful meds where a little bit off of optimum cut matters. This is not a unit to quickly slam out a whole bunch of pills. With this unit I have less fragmenting/little pieces crunch off. I don’t recall now if there are considerably more expensive options out there but I’m not willing to pay that as not doing a volume of cutting but 2pills a day if using that medication. Oh…this unit will take a bit of manual dexterity so if you have considerable issues with small pills and confined workspace of a small framed cutter this will be more challenging.

The pills I have to cut in half (and occasionally quarters) are very small, powdery, and honestly the most frustrating things on the planet. I'm allowed absolutely no extras of them, so every time I accidentally pulverize a pill, I have to compensate by shorting myself a dose later on in the month when I run low. Traditional pill cutters from the store were causing this to happen at least 40% of the time, which made pill cutting a nail-biting nightmare every time. The first two dozen or so cuts of this are absolutely beautiful. As the blade begins to wear, you'll get a little more fraying, but that's to be expected. There's still a margin of human error in play too where you can press too hard or too softly, center it in the mold incorrectly, or just otherwise have the planets line up wrong -- but overall, this is BY FAR the most effective and least frustrating pill cutter I've ever used in my life. They give you a ton of different size molds for different sized pills and also throw in several extra little containers to hold those molds AND the cut pills, which I thought was a kind touch. The pressure on either side of the pill ensures that even if you get some crumbling, it's kept very minimal. Overwhelmingly the cuts are clean and my pills are perfectly halved, no crumbling or fraying, a good 90% of the time. That is much, much, much better than my old 40% success rate. There are a lot of pill cutters out there that will do the job, but honestly this is the one I find myself preferring over all the others. It's a great product and if I'm going to be honest, the first time I used it and it cut my pill in half perfectly twelve times in a row, I actually teared up a little. After years of frustration trying to deal with crappy pill cutters, this is a breath of fresh air. Do yourself a favor and snag it.

This pill cutter is a joke, went in trash, not worth returning, inserts are ver poor design, nothing to hold them in place!

Works great at chopping various pills in half. It needs to open wider to insert pills, especially if they needed to be reinserted to quarter. The pill cases are nice too, with the second one used to store the alignment pieces.

I had a cat that had to take four pills each day two of them twice a day with most of them having to be split. This product made it easy to split pills in half. The only problem was that one of the pills had to be split into quarters, and despite the picture on Amazon there was no insert that would do that. So I would have to split a pill in half and then I would have to split the half into half. No matter how hard I tried it never worked and I wouldn’t have a 50% and 50% split but instead something way off like maybe 25% and 75% split which wasn’t what I needed. I definitely would recommend buying this item because it worked on all the pills with the exception of the ones that I would have to eventually split in quarters. I found the product to be very durable and definitely a must have for anyone who has to split pills whether it’s for a person or an animal.

I have used pill splitters for over 20 years and have gone through a lot of them. I had one that was very basic and worked great for a long time. But the blade eventually got dull and started shattering the pills. Since that one failed I have gone through a lot of splitters. They have shattered pills, fallen apart after a few uses or have those flimsy plastic guards that slide to protect you from the blade that end up not allowing the blade to cut the pill. (Good thing these are cheap) I have been very frustrated and didn’t think I would ever find one that would work until I saw this one. The concept of using the silicone pill holders seemed like a good idea, but some of the ratings indicated this was not the case. And the guard system is designed so that it doesn’t get in the way of the blade making contact with the pill. So I decided to give it a try. I am very happy with how this splitter has performed. I take multiple medications and was able to find a silicone holder to fit each medication I take if it becomes necessary to cut them. This splitter has made each cut perfectly. So far I have found this splitter superior to any I have used in years.

Great product, far better than 2 previous purchases from the pharmacy. My tablet is oblong so these inserts are perfect. No more crushed or fractured pieces. Granted I’ve only chopped up a few so far but so far so good

I have tried other types of pill splitters but this one is by far the best. I have two animals that need tiny pills. One needs to be cut in half, the other in quarters. The silicone pads will fit most pills I'm sure. Just find one that keeps the pill snug in place and close the lid. The cutter is protected so you don't need to worry about cutting yourself. For the one I had to cut in quarters, I just rotated after the first cut. Every pill was cut cleanly. Other products have never done that for me. You also get a small pill storage container and one for the silicone pieces. I always read reviews before buying and I find it interesting some reviews said it was a terrible product. Frankly, this piece is a great value and will do exactly what you need it to. Not too expensive and worth every penny.
