I am an amateur artist using acrylics. I was having difficulty with small detail work, think spots on a very small birds. I had liners and other small brushes but they just weren’t right. I purchased the Golden Maple miniature brushes and I can tell you they are fabulous for small detail work. Each of the 15 brushes provides a different level of detail or texture. The brush handles are ergonomic so my hand does not cramp or get tired. The bristles have remained soft and pliable. If you need detail brushes, whether for canvas, rocks, whatever, these brushes will work great. I highly recommend them.

These brushes are holding up beautifully. I am using them so much more than I thought I would. The variety of sizes and types of head are so great for details and finishing touches on paintings. I use oil paints and so far they are holding up very very well. I highly recommend them. This is also my first foray into using short brushes and I like using them.

I have been painting for over 30 years and do highly detailed paintings in "old masters" style. For years I used a brand of brush that was great; inexpensive but sturdy and worked beautifully. Sadly, all good things must end and all of a sudden can't find decent brushes. Even if you spend some money. Then, one of my students bought these by chance and THANK GOODNESS FOR THAT. We were desperate. Paintings could not be finished or struggled with due to lack of brushes we liked. They were very reasonable, so a good start. Well, what a surprise. They hold the paint very well and move it around too. The flats have a razor sharp edge - something I've been having a problem finding lately. The little round detail brushes are superb They are beautifully made, don't shed hairs, hold the structure well. I just paid $11 per brush for a little 10x from a German maker - they were useless. They offer all kinds of nice products and my only sight disappointment was too many little detail brushes - I needed more flats. Of course, this is geared towards people doing miniature model painting and such, not oil painters So, I understand. I contacted the manufacturer to ask if they'd do a flat package, and they are open to it.

I use these as my bread and butter brushes for dry brushing or applying base coats. The brushes maintain their integrity (no broken or stray bristles) and are good value. However for detailed work (edge highlighting, faces, etc.) I find that they don't hold enough paint. It's super annoying trying to paint a super thin line and having to break off to refill the brush. Edit: I forgot to add that this set being synthetic are subject to the dreaded hooked tip which may or may not be fixed by dipping in really hot water. I'm not downgrading them because of it though because all synthetics get the hooked tip. My opinions on brushes used commonly for more detailed work or painting in the 'Eavy Metal style of a million edge highlights: * Windsor & Newton Series 7: I prefer the regular long bristles versus their miniature line which has a shorter more triangular bristle shape; the miniature line doesn't hold as much paint and you really need to thin the paint to get it to flow. One of the few pros that do like the miniature W&N is "The Infernal Brush" who was a 'Eavy Metal painter for 9 years and won two Golden Demons. So it's clearly down to personal preference if you like the regular or miniature lines. They hold a tip well and I consider these the standard to judge other brushes by. Be aware that their quality control is "iffy" and you can get brushes that immediately start splaying. Verdict: recommended as a good starting point for Kolinsky brushes. Then try other brushes to see if you like them more. * DaVinci Series 35: A slightly cheaper option than the W&N (at this time), holds a tip just as good as the W&N and holds more paint. I like the spring in the bristles. My FAVORITE brush hands down for 'Eavy Metal style painting. These guys do have long bristles though so sometimes for tight spaces or awkward angles, you'll have to use a different brush brand. Verdict: highly recommended. * I finally got a hold of Raphael 8404 size 1 brushes. Eh. Not bad. I like that the belly is big but the bristles aren't that springy. I find it takes more effort for it to hold a tip - too little paint and the paint won't flow and too much paint and the brush will splay a bit. I keep trying to use it for edge highlighting and it's just too much of a pain in the butt for that purpose. I'd say great for base coating or doing things like cloaks and the like. Emil from Squidmar Miniatures likes these for what it's worth. Verdict: eh. * Michigan Toy Soldier: yes, you read that right. A company out of, well, Michigan who specializes in miniature hobby stuff. They have their own Kolinsky brush line which I think might be rebranded Rosemary Co. but I'm not entirely sure. What I do know is that for about 12 bucks a brush, these are an insanely good value. I actually like them slightly more than the Winsor & Newtons. I'll use these for edge highlighting when I feel the bristles of the DaVinci are too long for certain edges. Verdict: highly recommended. My second favorite brush. * Monument Hobbies: these are sable brushes (not Kolinsky) roughly the same price as the Michigan Toy Soldier ones and recommended by Ninjon. These hold a tip as well as the W&N Series 7 but their brush sizes are really wonky. I got a size 1 and it's really a small brush; their size 1 is like a size 0 from DaVinci. Also they don't hold paint all that well compared to the DaVinci size 0. I kind of want to buy their size 2 just to see if it's closer in size to a typical size 1 brush and THEN judge how these brushes are. Verdict: inconclusive. I can't use their size 1 brush as a "workhorse" since it's just too small for that. I plan on using it as I would a size 0 from other brands. Although this synthetic set is no longer used much by me (mostly used for base coating large areas of a miniature and applying primer or varnishes, etc.), it's still a great set for beginners who aren't sure they will stick with the miniature painting hobby.

I’ve been searching for brushes like these for a long time, and while I’ve found similar ones before, they usually became frayed and lost their shape by the end of a painting. These brushes, however, are amazing. They’ve held their sharp point and shape extremely well, even with detailed work, and they’re comfortable and easy to use. I would definitely recommend them to any artist looking for high-quality small brushes for fine detail work.

Nice balance ergonomic handles. Great brush for detailed paint by number sections. They are of MUCH better quality than those brushes included with the paint by number sets. Easy clean-up. This set comes with a velvet bag as well a cardboard tube that serves as a brush holder to display the brushes for easier selection.

i got these to paint my gunpla and i must say they are very versatile good grip design carrying case is nice i get good detail with the fine point brush easy to use good shape retention

I use these for all my paintings. Acrylic, gouache, water colour, everything. It has never done me wrong. The precision that these provide is so satisfying, but be careful. If you have shaky hands, these brushes will make that obvious. The grip is lovely with smooth wood. The glue holding the hairs is clearly very strong because I have absolutely now problems with shedding. The value for money is a no brainer in my book. Genuinely nothing I can say that takes issue with this. 10/10.

They are synthetic brushes and take a little some getting used to, but I've actually ordered this set twice - as I find them very good value for money in terms of range of brushes provided.
