Easy to Read and Helpful Study Guide
This CCRN book is great. It covers a lot of content but is easy to read and get through. It has 3 practice tests in it, which is a great way to test your knowledge. This book paired with the CCRN Flash cards is a great way to study for the exam. I like the way the information is laid out in the book and presented.

Best CCRN Study Guide
Made studying for the CCRN clear and concise. The topics are digestible and broken down by system, with following questions. I wish I had gotten this book sooner into my critical care career, and I still use this book when I need to brush up on topics or have orientees. It is my go to source of knowledge for critical care.

Passed on 1st Try -Read Review
Very helpful starting point for CCRN studying. Well organized but not completely comprehensive- for example I had questions on Hepatitis and specific spinal cord injuries which isn’t touched on in this book. Besides that very good overview with starred ‘important information to know’ of many topics and disease process throughout the book that was helpful. I’ve done all questions online and in book and even reviewed and retook quizzes in book until I scored higher/understood the knowledge. I probably done about 800 questions total. Also mini quizzes after each section in Barron book. Definitely recommend spending atleast a few weeks to 2 months studying. I also took a 2 day course through my employer that was very general. I also paid for criticalcareacademy online videos and questions (somewhat helpful). Out of these 3, Barron was definitely the most in depth and to the point - very helpful but I do recommend atleast another source/question bank. There are Pictures throughout the book as well. It was my first time taking exam and passed!P.S. 1.5 Years MSICU - took exam now as I heard the future updated CCRN exam that is scheduled to be release towards Fall of 2025 would possibly include more device/disease questions related to CCRT, EVD, Impella, more EKG strips etc. Best of Luck to those studying!

My dog ate the first order of books.
Bought this book thinking it would gently hold my hand and whisper sweet nothings about critical care nursing into my ear. Instead, it smacked me with practice questions that made me question every life choice I’ve ever made. On the plus side, it’s thorough, well-organized, and actually made me feel like I might survive the CCRN exam. On the minus side, I now twitch when I hear the word “hemodynamics.” Five stars — would recommend to anyone who enjoys mild panic attacks sprinkled with learning.
