Bestop 5124301 No-Drill Header Windshield Channel for 2007-2018 Wrangler JK 2-Door & 4-Door

I love the way this attaches without the need for any drilling. The thumb bolts combined with the metal piece that distributes the pressure across the entire attachment point works so well you would think this was a factory item. The channel itself fits perfectly across the windshield gasket for a nice tight seal. In fact, it fits so well that when the bikini top is attached I wouldn't be surprised if the air noise coming from the windshield is actually lower than with the hard top attached. The bikini top attaches easily and I reattach this when I remove my bikini top so I don't have to worry about storing it. Obviously it can not remain attached when you put the hard top back on but I'll worry about then when it is time.

I was worried that we would have to drill into the jeep and that wasn't needed at all. This slides into a sleeve of the top and attaches on with screw brackets that are already on the unit for the hardtop. this was super easy to install and worked perfectly with a nice tight fit and seal. The directions were easy to read and understand. If you aren't sure which you need call Bestop! They are super helpful and the tops all have their own part numbers with hardware numbers so be sure you are getting the right thing.

Installed in 20 minutes but I'd done one before... Good quality & does exactly what it's supposed to do, just make sure you have it centered left to right before tightening all the way or you won't be happy with how your top sits

Very sturdy and seals the leading edge of the bimini very nicely.

I took the advice of a previous review and just went to Home Depot and bought a set of stainless steel hex head bolts, the instructions actually say 10-24 3/8" but the 1/2" long ones that I got worked just fine. I didn't even use the Phillips head screws that were provided, I threw them out as soon as I opened the package but I would agree that they felt very cheap. The thread lock nuts that were provided worked excellent though but on top of that I can't figure out why the product didn't come pre-assembled seems the manufacture got kind of lazy on that front. Everything fit as it should but the instructions are garbage and kind of hard to picture what they are trying to tell you, I just took everything outside and mocked it up and then started the bolts and finished them on the ground (insert helpful wife). Has a nice painted finish and seems like it will last a long time. BTW I put this on my 2012 jk 2dr sport, I think it would be helpful if reviews put exact yr/make/model that way we all know what and how it fit 'cause let's face it these product descriptions leave a lot to be desired sometimes! Overall good products but lacking on some minor details therefor 4 instead of 5 stars

Step by step and no issues with the install.

Perfect for what I needed!

This was supposed to be a really easy install. 1st problem - one of the 8 little screws that attach the brackets to the channel just sheared in half. Head snapped right off. Not a biggie, it's a just a M10, and I had some extras laying around the garage, though an extra would have been nice to include. Of course, they're unusually short, so I had to cut one down to length. Then, when starting the final installation - turning the knobs to tighten it down - I got one about 3/4 of the way in (turning nice and smooth - not cross threaded). My guess is it hit a flaw in the threads; it bound, and then the rivet nut started spinning in the bracket. I had to completely disassemble - using vice grips on the rivet nut to get the knob out. Checked to make sure all the parts were steel - they were, so I was able to weld the rivet nut in place. They shold probably be tack welded at the factory. Chased all the threads- before re-assembling (taking extra care not to shear off any more M10's) - and it finally went together the way it should. So, if your install goes like mine, in addition to the reccomended tools, you'll need: at least one extra M10 screw, a cut off wheel (to shorten screw(s) to length), needle nose vice grips, a small grinder on a dremel to clean off paint for welding, a wire wheel for stripping paint off the bracket for a good ground, mig welder, 1/4-20 tap (to clean threads in the rivet nut), 1/4-20 die to clean threads on the knob, and paint. Maybe I was just unlucky with this one.
