完全に変声期を終え太い声に変化し「若さ」という目に見える特徴は使えなくなったものの、アーティストとして成長したStevieの音楽を聴く事が出来る作品。サウンドもこれまでのようなジャズスタンダードの流れからがらっと変化し、当時のMotownらしい荒々しいノーザンビートでまとめられている。このアルバムで一番特徴とされる部分はStevie Wonderが作曲に参加している事だと思う。当時、声変わりをし、身長もみるみる伸びていくStevieはヒットにも恵まれず、Motownも彼の解雇を考え始めていたところだった。その考えに終止符を打ち、Stevieが音楽活動を続けられる事になったのは、彼自身が作曲に積極的に参加した"Uptight"のシングルヒットだった。Stevie自らの手で成功を勝ち取ったという証となる曲だと思う。様々なノリの楽曲があるけれど、シングルヒットを飛ばした"Uptight"、そしてそれと似た調子の楽曲"Nothing's Too Good For My Baby"は特に素晴らしい出来だ。その他Bob Dylanの名曲"Blowin' In The Wind"のカバー等も面白い。
