They pull tight, look great, and are (almost) impossible to break. We have succeeded in breaking one driving it into an oak beam without predrilling and it got bound up somehow. Have always used 3/8” lags in the past on heavy construction. No More. These are much easier to work with. I did drill a small pilot hole which made it easier on the Dewalt Cordless Impact Driver. I actually broke one of the the lag screws with the impact but these Landscape Screws are much tougher although a bit thinner than the lags.
