XY1000

Nice entry level reel. Super smooth for an inexpensive item. Liked the first enough to buy a second in a different size. Kids and landed a number of summer flounder on these and some 5 lb Bluefish and schoolie stripers all with no issues at all. Read some negative reviews and even some videos about damaging effects of saltwater which is very a true possibility. So when I received mine I went over a few areas with a light coating of reel grease BEFORE using in harsh salt environment and no visible rust or corrosion seen so far. 8 out of 10 times I rinse all of my reels with fresh water. I have some higher end gear that I love but not turning them over to kids yet until their a bit more seasoned. Tight lines

This is a really nice reel. It feels smooth, has a relatively smooth drag, and it looks and feels very well made. And despite all this, the cost was quite low. I've spent far more on reels, but I don't know that I've ever received this kind of value for the money spent. I bought the XY1000 reel. I paired it with a 6' 6" ultralight rod, intending to use it for crappies. It works great for that and balances well. As you can see in the picture, an occasional bass joins the party! And the reel's drag was up to the challenge for bigger fish like this on 4 lb line. The size of the reel is good for this application... I like to "feather" the line with my index finger during the cast, and this reel's size makes that convenient. As a side note, I REALLY like the hexagon cutout pattern on the side of the spool. I want my reels to function great and care less about the looks, but it's fun to have one that works great and looks cool, too. Overall I'm very happy with this purchase. For the ratings below... Light weight: It balances well on my rod so the weight is good for me. Value is off the charts and I'd give that 6 stars if I could. Durability: So far so good. I've caught many fish on this reel over ~3 months and it's been perfect so far.

#1 I like the look of the reel, but not important for fishing #2 I like that there is a spare spool @ times this is important #3 I like the balance of the reel and the very good smoothness of the reel no wobble when spinning quick but not that important. #0 Caution when changing spool, there is a small drag gear on the winder shaft it is very lose and will fall off, if in the field while changing and falls off( and lost that's it for fishing) a dab of silicone on gear seat could fix this. #4 Don't like the open spool this could allow water (salt water not good) and other debris in the reel, tape could fix this #5 Don't like no schematic of reel and parts most reels usually give that at purchase #6 Don't like in the directions which would be for a very 1st time fisherman they talk about lubrication it is said and I believe this is dated by AI to remove the maintenance plate and add 2 drops of oil, its not said or shown where this plate is located, I believe it's on the retrieval side of the bail #7 Don't like and this is personal, the handle has a very large round ball to hold and wind with, I've had many reels and never seen this till now, my hands are large but usually that is flat or flat with a slight curve, or like a barrel, it's just not comfortable, but can be modified, fairly easy. #8 I have fished for 70 years, i don't pretend to know everything, but supplier asked for review, I THINK THE REEL COULD BE A GOOD PURCHASE, PROPER MAINTINANCE AND CARE OR SPARE!

Why spend 200$ or 300$ on a reel when these reels are just as durable have just as good of drags and the line capacity matches plus you get a spare spool. Used these in fresh and saltwater with 0 issues and flawless performance. Going to be picking up a couple more sets for this year because the price can't be beat.

Great reel so far? Taken it on the boat a few times now and it’s withheld. Quality is 10/10. Looks so sick. And it’s SO smooth. If you’re thinking about pulling the trigger just do it. You WONT be disappointed.

I live in north Idaho and do a lot of pike and smallmouth fishing on big lakes. I’m usually a Daiwa or Abu guy but took a gamble on this one just to see what it was about. The thing was always popping up under “fishing reels” every time I searched. The good: it works. The reel does what it needs to do most of the time, and the bearings are probably about the best part of the whole thing. Its very smooth, but also large and has some weight to it, so it balances ok when pitching plastics for finesse work. I’ve hooked and landed some nice smallmouth on it and it did well. Appearance is quite nice. For sure a “copy” of other manufacturers but I like the ported spool look. The bad: the spool sits really high on the threaded rod. It could legitimately sit closer to the body of the reel about a 1/4” more, I don’t know why it was designed so long!!! The bail also slaps the first retrieve of the line after the cast or any time there is slack, sometimes not winding it really well and even causing some knots by sending the line UNDER the spool and wrapping it around the shaft (also because the spool sits too far away from the body of the reel, see above). This means you have to disassemble the spool, unwrap the line from the reel shaft, reset the spool and reapply the drag nut. It got so annoying that I only use the reel for a back-up finesse set-up. If I had to cast crankbaits with this thing all day I’d probably return it. Also, the drag is extremely vague when setting it and when a fish pulls line on you. It just kind of… slips. No clicks or any indication that you have any control over losing line. I don’t believe it could handle the big pike we get up here, some of the big 6lb smallies made it seem inadequate. All in all, it’s a reel that works. Does it work well? I guess. Would I buy another? Probably not, but if I did it would only be for a back up.

I bought one of these about 10 years ago, to replace a Pflueger reel. It's super light, unbelievably smooth, and great for crappie fishing. I have 10 spinning rods and they all have these reels on them.

Die Angelspule ist so gut verarbeitet läuft schon leicht und holt dich nur super auf. Der Kauf hat sich sehr gelohnt und ich würde sie eben weiter empfehlen.

I purchased this item for my best friend who just started out in his newly loved hobby. I purchased the XY1000 and he is just loving it. The weight is just right for the size of the fishing reel. It is also beautifully designed and colored. It is very easy to use and it gave him better chances of catching a fish. The item is the same as in the description box and the image is almost identical to the fishing reel that will be delivered to your door. I am happy that my best friend is happy. Devo dire che funziona molto bene e pertanto niente da aggiungere, preciso, gira che sembra immerso nell'olio, frizione ok....consigliatissimo anche per il suo costo.
