Loads of help keeping track
This little inexpensive device is so very helpful. With my new gas generator there are time frames for service needs. This makes it so simple. I have 2 other generators and have no idea the hours they have seen and have missed service needs because of that. This wil make it very easy to follow and service in a timely manner.Comes with the gauge, 2 screws for mounting, 2 cable ties and a strip of wire for sampling the RPM at the spark plug.Installation was simple. Just access the spark plug lead, wrap the wire around it 5 times. Secure the lead with supplied tie wraps. Slip the wire through the underside slot on the gauge. Mount the gauge. Instead of screwing it in place I chose to use double sided tape to secure it. The readout stays active at all times, even when shut down. So at a glance you can see the time run with no need to start the generator. It will show an hoursglass figure that flashes when it is reading an RPM signal. This starts the timer and keeps the time on the screen. So glad that I picked this one up.

Cheap and easy.
Takes minutes to install. A good cheap way to track the hours on anything with a gasoline engine.

Works well, useful for push mowers
I bought this for a new Honda push mower. Installation took 10-15 minutes and was fairly straightforward. There are a number of Youtube videos that detail the best way to install. I used weatherproof Velcro to mount the meter on the engine cover instead of using the supplied screws. Used the mower for a half hour and it seems accurate. Time will tell how long it lasts.

How Long Will It Work?
I put one of these Hour Meters on my log-splitter. It was a little tricky keeping the wire away from the engine so I wrapped it with friction tape for added protection. I did this beyond where the meter's inductive pickup wire is wrapped around the spark plug wire. The instructions suggest you route the wire along the throttle cable but log-splitters don't have one. I used industrial Velcro to attach it to the frame under the engine. Initially, I attached it to the air filter cover but it vibrated too much and I thought that would shorten its life. I rated it four stars because I don't know how long it will last. If I get three or more years out of it I'd rate it five stars. Nice little unit."Easy Installation-peel & stick, no wiring necessary, or attach with enclosed hardware." The phrase "Peel and stick" implies you can do this with what is given with the unit. Not so-I used some industrial "peel and stick" Velcro but it was not included. Also, the enclosed hardware is two machine screws. Separate from the unit they include two zip ties to hold the wire that is wrapped around the spark plug wire in place.I bought a second one for my whole-house generator. I missed that it came in different colors when I bought the first one. Do people really care about color? When I saw that the orange one was a few cents cheaper I bought that for a second one. I guess the price difference is a function of demand.Since you can't reset the time on the unit you have to keep track of when you service your machine. What I do is I make it a multiple of something easy to remember. So, every 50 hours of run time (100/150/200, etc.), or whatever you choose, is when I change the oil on my log-splitter or generator. My garden tractor has a built in hour meter and that's what Husqvarna set up as its service regime.

works flawless
Easily installed on my new Honda mower and worked perfect from jumpstreet. It’s still working flawlessly, though admittedly it has only begun its journey. This meter is priced right and built well! It does come with mounting hardware, but you will want to use your drill and screwdriver to install it properly.

Works well, very good purchase for the money.
I installed this on my tractor to see if it kept time the same as the built in hour meeter. It does. Easy to install, inexpensive, accurate, what more could you ask for? Durability!! We'll see in 2 or 3 years if it holds up.Update: I have installed 3 of these over the past year or so. They work great, a suggestion - make the wire a little longer, even 6" would help. I could have used the extra in all 3 cases.

Have several of these now, zero issues
I've got these installed on three separate Honda-engined small engine devices. A water pump, generator, and pressure washer. It reliably tracks the usage on all of them, and its internal battery has lasted years now without issue. I do still write down the hours every so often, because I do not know the failure mode for when the battery does go; i.e. will it suddenly turn off one day, or will it start to fade with a less crisp display so I know when it's time to get a new one.
