I use it to cut thick insulation on 600 to 750 copper stranded wire as an electrician. Always the right price and the performance is incredible. Because if the shape of the blade and the ratchet and lock feature you develop a technique easier to cut the wire leaving the copper strands unscathed. This review is written with those who don't need a one-off tool for a job. As a one-off tool, it's well worth the money compared to sawing. I bought this as an alternative to another model/brand I had purchased earlier (and am returning). All I need is a straight-cutting PVC tube cutter for 1" sched40 PVC tubing. I have about a hundred cuts to make. I'm making the support structure of my project out of that stuff, and sawing will get way too messy. I really like the ratcheting action on it. It allows you to adjust as you cut. That way you usually get a clean, even, straight cut, saving me hours, and a mess, sanding things flat and level. It does the job without causing me pain in my arthritic hands, too. The down sides to it would apply to those who want something hugely durable. It doesn't FEEL durable in a "I'll never have to replace it in my life" kind of way that many tools feel like. The ratcheting action is pretty loose, and the metal, while thick enough to do the job, isn't as thick, and the fittings as tight, as one would expect for a long-lasting tool. I think it'll last long enough to plumb a home or three, and MIGHT go longer, but by that point, I have the sense it'd be having issues. So for being "flimsy" (which may be a bit harsh of a word), one star off. Otherwise, for what I need, it's great, and I'd definitely recommend it to hobbyists and those who don't do plumbing for a living (unless you want a cheap backup!).

I was a little leery after ordering this PVC cutter and then watching a YouTube video using a similar cutter and hearing that it was hard to get a straight cut. No worries, this ratchet tool was amazing. I made over a dozen cuts and they all came out perfectly straight. It helps to lay the PVC on the floor when cutting. No adjustments were needed to connect to the desired fittings. I can't say I noticed any difference between the first cut and the last one. Seems like the blade holds up nicely. Would definitely recommend. No need for a chop saw.

I'm 82, and I was able to use this with no problem, it cut through 3/4 PVC pretty easily. I had a lot of pipe to cut, and it worked just fine. I found it was easier on my hands than I thought it would be. Stayed sharp through the entire project, which was about 100 cuts. I thought it was priced right, designed right, easy on my hands, a good tool.

Does not work on flexible vinyl tubing but PVC pipe cuts great with this tool!

Did a great clean job cutting my plastic pipes. It's relatively cheap too! I don't need to use a saw to cut! If you look at the photo closely there is a cut in the white pipes, it at so smooth you can barely see any creases

This is a great pipe cutter at a good price. I should have bought one of these a long time ago, it's so easy to cut pipes now. I've cut Pex, PVC, and 1/2 inch irrigation tubing. It's a ratcheting cutter, so it takes a number of pumps to cut through a pipe.

Great product . I use it to cut hard candies to freeze dry!
