I made sure I knew what I wanted and this product is it. Some in my family have sensory processing issues. I have always used silicone utensils in my nicer pans, especially non-stick. The vendor or whatever name is on the package doesn’t matter to me. It does say Matfer, and Exoglass. It is rigid, that’s fine because I did not want silicone. I don’t want to risk it becoming brittle so I wash it by hand. Yes, much of the rounded end is yellow. I specifically chose it to stir a product called “Just Egg”, a bottled mung bean liquid that I stir in a pan to make “scrambled eggs” for those family members, who are also vegan. The egg product has turmeric so it looks like beaten eggs. My white spatula now has a yellow spoon-edge. I don’t care if it turned yellow or purple. I’m cooking with it, not taking it to the prom.Because the item is not silicone, it doesn’t absorb odors. Ever. My sensitive-nosed family can tell what I stirred the previous time if I use silicone, it holds odors. Exoglass does not. I even have to use unscented dish soap on silicone, they can’t handle the “taste” and smell of soap from the silicone, even from the dishwasher.So Matfer Bourgeat Exoglass lives up to its description, it does what I bought it for, it cost more than silicone but for my family to fully enjoy their food, it was a small price to pay. I am looking at getting more Matfer Exoglass products. I feel I can trust it, and I certainly recommend it. IF you’re buying the right product. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ 5.0 out of 5 stars Pro chef review here *by O***N on Reviewed in the United States on August 25, 2022* These are the best on the market, bar none!I collect wooden spoons, and I've worked as a professional chef for 30 years or so so I always have a wooden spoon in my box, but I've always tried to have one of these hanging up on the line that I can grab just in case. Rubber specials all tend to melt but this is the one that I always reach to if I'm if I'm into a serious pot of something. I had a couple of the longer ones that I accidentally left hanging on the line at my last job when I left, so despite the fact that I have 20 wooden spoons I still had to go and buy one of these to put back in my tool kit!One of the things that happened to me recently that really prompted it, was I was making a nice batch of risotto, and I always keep a wooden spoon in my toolbox to make risotto. But this time when I was almost done with the risotto, and it had a nice color perhaps it was roasted garlic, and it had interior garnish, but anyway I looked at the tip of my wooden spoon, and there was a little chunk missing!!!! Not a small chip, but it was a little bit bigger than a chip like the size of a small raisin. I freaked out because it was a big brazing pan of risotto, and I searched and searched and couldn't find it. I recently sanded all the tips of my wooden spoons and made sure that they were all clean and rounded correctly with no chips or cracks but I realized that I really couldn't take a chance like that again. I still have a nice collection of wooden spoons that I keep at home, but if you're serious, you have to add one of these to your kit. They're not very flexible they're nice and firm, so you'll have no problem really working that risotto, or that 24-in braising pan of beef for that Bolognese, or stirring that turkey hash or whatever you're making. I said some of these same specials in the kitchen for years and believe me they take a beating I've never seen one melt. Every 6 months or so just put a little bleach solution together with a little water and just soak it and it'll be almost like brand new. ### ⭐⭐⭐ 3.0 out of 5 stars Not very versatile *by O***W on Reviewed in the United States on May 23, 2022* The spatula is a good, fairly narrow size, quite well made. However, after a few days of using it, I've found it not that useful. Problems? It is definitely sturdy, but thus totally inflexible, not able to hug sides, bottoms of bowls, pots, etc. The edge is too thick to easily slip under items, to move them, flip them, etc. It also evidently stains easily, as it's turned yellow (apparently permanently) after stirring a sauce that included paprika. The spatula is probably best for use with heavier tasks. Despite its useful size, it won't function well to get contents out of narrow jars or cleanly wipe sides and bottoms of bowls or pans, etc. It's fine for general stirring, but I already had plenty of other implements that do that just as well.
