Can the black Rubber part be switched out for a thicker one?

I am not sure about removing the pad and replacing it with a thicker one but I can say we added a thin piece of rubber to one door with industrial glue so it rests firmly against the door.

Are there spacers for these locks ?

No no spacers just short screws that I personally upgraded to longer more heavy duty screws so spacers if needed you must purchase separate hope that helps.

Can it be opened from outside in case of emergency?

It doesn’t withstand a forceful entry. Also, My 5yo can unlock it from inside. I just moved it up to the top of the door where she’s unable to reach it.

Can this be installed in the door jam at the top of the door? For a double door type of application.

I wouldn’t, for the reason that it is effective when mounting 6 inches above your deadbolt.
