With excellent ductility and machinability, it allows for precise applications and is available in multiple sizes to fit your specific needs. ## Description Recommended solder welding procedure: Preheating is recommended for some applications, but overheating should be avoided. In the joint, cavities can be formed due to trapped zinc vapors. Oblique cracks or heavy sections. Clean the area to be soldered as thoroughly as possible. Joint clearances of 0.002" - 0.005" (0.05 - 0.13 mm) are suitable. Preheat the part to be soldered with a slight oxidizing flame. If using LFBB, immerse the rod into the bronze soldering flux (there is no need for more flux when using LFBFC) and then back to the soldered area, keeping the torch in constant motion to avoid overheating. The melted drops of LFB or LFBFC follow the heat of the torch flame. Repeat the process until the joint is filled (Note: One advantage of using LFBFC over LFB is that there is no need to remove flux residues between passes). Allow the part to cool slowly before removing snails, then use a wire brush to get a nice yellow brass color. ## Features - LFB (bare layer of smoking bronze) is a general purpose oxyacetylene/soldering rod used for joining various ferrous and non-ferrous metals such as carbon steel, copper alloys, cast iron, malleable iron, stainless steel and some nickel alloys. Mechanical and physical characteristics include ductility, machinability, high strength, free flow with good tin action and low melting point (1900°F) - A "must have" filling metal for any machine shop, LFB is excellent for building up wear surfaces or large areas where successive layers need to be added; galvanized parts can be soldered without damaging the zinc layer.
