New to soda stream just for the tonic water
I gave my mother a sodastream for Christmas because we could make our own diet tonic water. There are some flavors we've tried for the sodastream that were a disappointment but not this one. One cap full in a 1L bottle makes a sweet, tangy tonic water that mixes beautifully with a good gin. It's also tasty by itself IF you like tonic water. For me, this flavor made the purchase of the soda stream a good bargain. Tonic water in the store can be expensive and this syrup is much more economical.

OK if you like it sweet
This syrup, mixed at the recommended amount, is disgustingly sweet. Wretched is a word that comes to mind. I tried using about half the recommended amount and it is somewhat drinkable, but then doesn't have a lot of flavor. I finally resorted to making my own tonic syrup with a recipe found on the internet and have been enjoying the best Gin and Tonics I've ever had, using my sodastream to produce the carbonated water.

diet tonic does not taste like diet tonic
People giving this high reviews must never have drank diet tonic before- taste nothing like it. It is horrible. We bought the sodastream to reduce the waste and cost of buying soda in stores. Diet tonic is often wasted from store bought bottles because you often don't go through a liter when you make G&Ts and then it goes flat. So we bought this instead, but I have to say this does not taste anything like diet tonic. Closest we could get to a semblance of store bought diet tonic was to cut recipe in half and add lime. But we dislike it enough that we will not drink it any more. Unfortunately I bought 4 containers. Doh! Too bad there is no alternative to sodastream for diet tonic, because the concept is nice.

Not like real tonic!
Not horrible, so I can't give it a one star, but it's so overly sweet that it is almost undrinkable in most beverages. Much better off getting some tonic syrup and just using soda water.

A value at half the concentration, a convience at any concentration
The value of SodaStream products is often questioned by my friends. This product comes out to be about .04 an ounce for just the syrup if you can find it with free shipping. The 60L CO2 cartridge adds about a penny an ounce depending on where you live and can get it (lately, my local hardware store has been the best around here). The best price I've found locally for premixed Schweppes is about .06 an ounce which is pretty close to the SodaStream cost. Everything else I use SodaStream for seems to be a great value. This one product stays a bit inflated. Nonetheless, I use it because it produces much less recycling waste than the bottles and because I find that the tonic tastes best at about half the recommended concentration- a value at about .02 an ounce which hits the advertised "half price" including the CO2.Of course the value of being able to make a fresh batch when needed should not be discounted either.

Diet Tonic Syrup
I have tried several flavors of diet SodaStream syrup - some is OK and others are really good. This flavor is one I think is really good. In comparing it to store brand Diet Tonic Water in the 2 liter bottles, it comes off pretty well. I can't compare it to name brand stuff since we don't buy that. And it is nice and convenient to have around the house so you can make some whenever.

Very good quality, but too expensive
Very good quality, but too expensive. You can get diet tonic in Miami at Publix on special two two-liter bottles for about a dollar, which is cheaper than you can make this stuff, but I prefer this because of taste and quality. I drink a lot of this, up to one liter a day, for cramps. Quinine pills are too heavy a dose, and the ol' kidneys get a workout, and no worry about calories.

SodaStream Diet Tonic
Having been given a SodaStream machine about 18 months ago and deciding to forgo nightly wine or cocktails, we quickly discovered Diet Tonic was the perfect alternative and have been devotees to its crisp and refreshing taste. We prefer it to even the highest bottled versions because of the quality of its flavor, economic and ecological savings and availability.
