NEEDS a better manual
It's a shame that a simple issue of providing an understandable, in depth manual is still not available. Here's a review from 2018:I would have appreciated an operator's manual coming with the unit and do think new people to hydroponics would benefit from a little more information on unit maintenance, cleaning and the rationale behind proper water management and pH.There are plenty of bilingual speakers in Taiwan, who could come up with a better manual. Some captions on the set up videos might be helpful. A few "caution" emphasize would help as well. It's Jan 2023 and a good manual is still not available. The changes to the 2022 model is very unclear, even to the customer reps I contacted. My partner just recently set up our system. It was not easy to follow the video, stopping and replaying, and checking the "manual". With my other hydroponic systems, I have always set them up myself without help. During set up, my partner had a problem with the fan. Connections for the lights and fan (on an different electric current than the fan) are not clearly marked. When the fan was connected incorrectly, burning and smoke resulted. A simple color coded tape or just an emphasis on the importance of the different connection would have be VERY helpful. The fan now needs to be replaced, "user" error, so Opcom won't send a replacement fan.I did not receive the Salt #1 Nutrients and was told the pH balancing product would suffice. Really? I went ahead and set the system up with Master Blend products. Turned on the pump and LEAKAGE from the water control box. There is no mention of the two levers on the box. One of the lever (sent from the factory) was set to drain the reservoir. Again, no mention on the manual regarding the positioning of the levers before turning the pump on.Another issue specific to me, a person who doesn't own a cell phone. I don't really want to use an app to monitor, but it looks like I don't have a choice so my partner will set it up for us. So where does one get an app in ENGLISH?Still don't have access to the app. So turning the system on and off.I love the quality of the construction of the unit, but am not sure I like the 24/7 pump that goes with the NFT. I am hoping to use it more as an ebb and flow system. The constant humming of the pump is irritating.I agree with one of the reviewers who mentioned that it's a shame that this product is not more popular when it's a quality unit. In spite of my difficulties, I do love the construction and size of this unit. I have reached out to the Taiwan office to get them my feedback. My emails go unanswered. Why don't they want a bigger market?I could only find a few YouTube videos which didn't help me avoid any of the problems I experienced. When I am more familiar with the system I will post some videos to share my positive outcomes! I would buy this unit again. I just want better customer support with a better manual and more videos on troubleshooting, cleaning, etc.

High quality system for home
I purchased the first generation of this product a year ago and it is great. There were a few issues at first that Opcom said was due to the shipping (leaking), but they suggested fixes and even, in one case sent a replacement part. The design is intuitive and works great. I did notice that the original supplies fertilizer left some granular sand like substance on the bottom of the tank. They have since changed the fertilizer. It would be great if they could add some sort of blocking system to limit the light that gets into the grow tubes/tank. I currently have cut black paper circles and taped them over the holes and that does a great job. It is easy to clean with either soap/water or a low concentration water/bleach. The system as well does a great job when it comes to food safety, with keeping the nutrient water separate from the product. There is no soil and so no need for any sort of chemical application or biological treatment for pests and diseases.I have successfully grown lettuce (romaine, boston, leaf), basil, cilantro. I have also grown Peas and strawberries. the Peas grew amazing but did not flower as I did not have the right grow light or fertilizer mixture (you can see the Peas in the picture). The strawberries surprisingly flowered and produced but were too soft and werent quality (again because i had the wrong light/fertilizer).For some reason a lot of website that suggest the "top 10 home hydroponic systems" don't include the Opcom products - which I think is crazy. They have a big selection from small all the way up to large systems, and their prices are inline with everyone else.Customer service is great and quick to follow up.It would be great if they supplied a better guide on how to use, clean etc. They may now but with the first generation there wasn't much provided.

Don't buy unless you are a professional
It was broken on arrival and my husband had to fix two leaks with flex seal. The grow solution is sandy and never fully dissolved. The pH product that they give you doesn't work. The manual can not be understood at all. I want to use my own seeds and grow mediums and so far have not been able to adapt what they gave me to use what I want to use. We made our own hydroponic system real cheap some years back and I thought this would be an upgrade, and I could grow more stuff. What a disappointment.

A little hard to unpack/assemble. When in use, a lot of light gets into it while the plants are germinating which can lead to a lot of algae. No way to set a time on/off, so you have to turn it on or reset it at that time of day.

Product works but worst customer service
Item arrived and one of the bulbs was blistering hot and after a week the light burnt out.. I've attempted to send in this report to their website that had several email address for customer support.. After 3 months got 1 reply asking for pictures and receipt, that was Sept 30.. Fast forward to now, No reply what so ever, no new bulb, nothing... They have resulted in ghosting me.. Buying a $1000 item just to be ghosted.. DON'T BUY FROM THEM!!!!

Beautiful, Stylish and Productive
I originally saw the Opcom GrowWall on Amazon. By the time I went to purchase it no longer was on the Amazon website - so bought this directly from the company. I have had this unit for almost one year. I have been growing hydroponically in my home for 22+ years. The unit looks stylish and beautiful when planted. It is a joy to look at every day!!. The unit comes with everything one would need to grow hydroponically. I would have appreciated an operator's manual coming with the unit and do think new people to hydroponics would benefit from a little more information on unit maintenance, cleaning and the rationale behind proper water management and pH. I have been very successful with lettuce, kale, watercress, chives, basil. It produces more than the two of us can eat, I have plenty to share with friends. The people at Opcom have been extremely helpful and very nice - quick to address any of my concerns.
