The bulb and prompt delivery get the 4 stars. The Flowtron bug zapper not so many. It took me two tries at replacing the bulb. Each time the bulb arrived on time, and worked just fine. But I shattered the first bulb on installation (and it seems that I'm not the only one that has shared this experience). The bulb retainer on the Flowtron 80W zapper is a pain. It is very difficult to install a new bulb without shattering it. Too much force is required to reinstall the retainer. So on the 2nd go-round I made a modification (see picture). I placed the retainer on a block of wood and used a 3/4" wood chisel to split each of the retainer tabs into 5. Installation was easy after that. The modified retainer holds the bulb just fine.

I read other reviews mentioning that these bulbs break easily on installation. I found the install to work very well without any modifications to the lower tabs as indicated on some reviews I read. I achieved this by removing the plastic cage/cover, replaced bulbs and carefully reinstall the plastic cage/cover. I didn’t even attempt to replace the bulbs using the lower bulb retainer tabs. I strongly believe I would have broken the bulbs trying to replace them that way. Just a few screws to remove all the plastic housing and it also gave me a chance to clean the entire unit. The bulbs were indeed different from the original bulbs that shipped with the unit, but by replacing them this way I felt very confident that they were not going to break. My unit required two bulbs to be purchased as I have the Flowtron BK-80D. Someone mentioned the direction of the bulb mattered so I just made sure I kept the orientation of the bulb the same by using the lettering on the bulb as reference. I hope this helps someone in the future as I was quite nervous purchasing these replacement bulbs knowing others have had complications in installing them. They are expensive, but replacing them was much appreciated after I saw how much of a significance in the reduction of bugs with the new bulbs installed.

Just received these today and they are working fine. Easy install - UNPLUG the unit, remove two screws retaining the plastic cover on top of the unit and then four screws holding the bulb platform in place. Lift platform out gently. Remove old bulbs and snap in new bulbs. BE CAREFUL lowering the new bulbs back into the unit. Mine held in place as I lowered them into the unit but they don't seem to be fasten in very tight and would easily break if dropped. Work in reverse to put the unit back together. The original bulbs lasted two years and I am hoping to get that or more out of these.

I bought these Flowtron BF-150 Replacement Bulb for my current Flowtron lamp and they were a direct replacement. For those who don't know what these lamps essentially due to the Flowtron lamp is that it is part of a process where the bulb is a UV lamp that acts like a warm spot, in which Mosquitos and other critters get attracted to. The Bulb isn't the one that ends the life of the Mosquitos. There are many parts and factors in the lamp that play a role in annihilating these guys. The Bulb distributes UV and acts like a artificial sunlight of some sort and most bugs get attracted to light sources. The Cartridges attract more of these critters if the UV doesn't work on them and around these two things is a electrical barrier that essentially knock them out with high voltage.A person like me using this almost every night, the bulb essentially does give out and needs to be replaced. very easy to take off in install. Just remember to unplug the whole unit off before doing so or else, you will also get zapped, and it won't be a pleasant one. They work well, and they do the job. Bought two as backup just in case of Mosquito season.

it is true these chinese bulbs are a different size than the original korean bulbs. the bulbs plug in easily. they are longer and require some special set up to get the holders to fit. my bulbs were actually 2 different lengths as well. i put the bottom holders in the space they go but not the position (they are not in their "locked in position". they bottom holders are sort of wedged in but not all the way down in. i passed a stiff wire through the outer frame of the light and over the holders. i then bent the ends over the bottom edge of the frame and this set up keeps the bulbs in place.how did the first night go? the light attracted hundreds of visitors. they all stayed until morning. bird food i hope.

One of the bulbs doesn’t work

Easy to install, only need to remove six screws to get to the bulbs. I just wish these would last a little longer. The Flowtrons I use in my backyard have been great this year. It use to be I could not go outside even in the daytime without covering myself with insect spray. Now I never use inset spray. I use two 1 1/2 acre Flowtrons and they have really brougt the mosquitoes under control. Wish I had used the Flowtrons earlier. :-)

Yes bulbs were great but turns out we need a whole new unit LOL will order that for spring but thanks for fast delivery and good price on the bulbs .
