Great product - been using 10 of them for 2 years and we are very happy
We now have ten U-tec locks installed across two different properties, spanning several models, and they’ve all performed extremely well. They’re easy to install, have solid battery life, and look professional and sleek. Keeping everything within the one app has been a real advantage — it’s simple to manage and works reliably. Over the last 18 months we’ve had issues with two of the locks, but the customer service has been exceptional. Responses are fast, helpful, and every problem has been resolved efficiently and fairly. Overall, these locks have made life easier across both locations, and I’m very comfortable recommending them to anyone considering a smart-lock system.

Smart Lock Warranty
Update May 2024 - The door lock simply died. There was just no power getting to the unit. I had tried new batteries, remade the wiring connections, made sure there was no corrosion on any of the leads, and checked the unit with my multimeter - Nothing! I looked up UTEC tech support and troubleshooting for help. I then reached out to their customer service (late evening Central time) and had a response from Kiki a few hours later. I was asked for a couple additional pieces of information and they processed a warranty for me. I had a new power supply within a week of filing a warranty. There was constant communication throughout the process from Kiki. Overall a very pleasant experience. Recommend this product and company. (Original Review) - Have used this door lock for several months now and has not given me any issues. Teenage kids seem to enjoy using it. It's wonderful not needing to carry a key when I go for a walk or worrying that I forgot a key and locked myself out. Code or app, this lock is worth its money.

Don't waste your money
The only reason I've given this 1 star is because -1 star is not an option. The lock was easy to install. However, unless you own a battery factory, this isn't the lock for you. Initially I laid blame on the batteries that came with it. However, since installing it the batteries have required changing about every 5 to 6 days. I have tried Eveready, Duracell and even Lithium batteries and they all seem to have the same life. This includes buying new batteries from different stores just in case they are old in the store. Of course the auto-lock function uses battery power but aside from that it is unlocked by battery only 3 or 4 times a day. I replaced batteries Sunday and on Thursday the lights stopped working. Here it is Friday and would not unlock without the key. I replaced the batteries yet again. Now the lights work but it is not beeping when you key in the unlock code. Certainly not worth the $180 price tag unless it comes with free batteries for life.

Great customer aftercare.
Good product and great aftercare service. Had an issue with my first Ultraloq, contacted aftercare, and they were helpful enough to assist. Always happy to support companies that stand by their products. Easy to install and comes with everything you need

Works Well Enough
So, I will say it works well enough. First, let me talk about the installation. It took me less than 15 minutes to exchange the deadbolt on my house. I understand that some people struggled with installing that and I wonder if that is the fault of how the door is cut versus the deadbolt itself. It installed without any issue and was quite easy to put together. No worse than any other deadbolt I have installed. Second, the application. It did take me about 15 minutes to get that setup and configured as a skill with Alexa. It was a tad annoying that I had to be inches from the lock to configure it but it does mention that in the instructions. I believe I read a review that indicated that it didn't convey that - I promise that it said it right on the screen when I was setting up the lock, so I set my cell phone on top of the lock as I figured I could not get much closer than that. Third, setting up the additional codes was a breeze. I was able to easily configure two additional codes for my brother and friend that come to my house quite often. I sent them the code via double-cryptic-cipher -- no, I'm kidding, I just texted it to them -- and they were both able to get in the house. Fourth, I said there was something annoying. I disabled auto-lock but sometimes it decides to still auto-lock the door while I have it open. I am not entirely sure why it does that, but that is the one complaint that I do have. Fifth, be sure to replace the striker plate in your door frame with theirs. I made the mistake of saving 90 seconds and not replacing it and occasionally the lock would jam and not want to open. This is entirely my fault and due to nothing more than my own laziness. Once I put in their striker plate, I have not had any issues. So, I suppose I should say it took me less than 15 minutes plus 90 seconds to install the lock after I came back to really finish the job. All in all, it does what it says it will do. It keeps your door locked. It allows you to set codes. It connects to Wifi if you get the Wifi enabled version -- note that it says clearly on the product that it has a bluetooth only version or the bluetooth plus Wifi version. Spend the extra money on the Wifi and have it connect happily to your router and be able to "talk" to the lock remotely. It will make your day. Or evening. Whatever time of day that you happen to leave your house and wonder if you remembered to lock your door or not. Which is why I bought this.
