I purchased the router + 1 satellite to replace my existing BT Whole Home setup of Smart Hub + 3 satellites. I was concerned moving to just 2 units would limit the signal strength and speeds throughout my 5 bed detached property but I was unimpressed with the speeds I was getting when not close to the Smart Hub. I cannot be more delighted with this product - with just 2 units I'm seeing stable connection throughout my home and garden with consistent speeds of 450-600mbps in most rooms and at the end of my garden still 150mbps. I was considering the 2 satallite package or the next model up (RBK853) but I'm so pleased with this (Paid £299) and it's more than adeqate for my house and approximately 35 devices connected. The router and the satellite arrived yesterday, was very quick Amazon express delivery and it didn't take long for me to set them up. The setup is pretty straightforward and easy for me anyway. Everything was working fine until I noticed a problem with the internet, I dug into then issue and I found that it was the satellite that was the issue. It would only connect to the internet with less than 10mbps and with my ISP, the connection should be around 250mbps. This issue was regardless if my devices are connected to the satellite using WiFi or wired. It didn't make any difference if the satellite were connected to the router using WiFi or wired and they are placed right next to each other. They are using the latest firmware as of today 18/02/2024. Quite disappointed with this product as I was looking forward to using the WiFi mesh feature. I currently use an old Netgear Nighthawk(R) X4S R7800 and I have to use a TP-Link AP extender, and I wanted to find a router that support WiFi mesh. The TP-Link extender is working fine even with the Orbi router, so I know for a fact that the satellite is a faulty one. When my devices are connected directly to the router either via WiFi or wired the internet connection was fine as I would expected to be around 250mbps. I contacted Netgear tech support and they said they can't do a replacement unless the device is more than 30 days old which is an odd policy? They advised me to return via Amazon because that was where I ordered it from. Also, the Orbi app does not show you which device is connected the router or the satellite which is quite disappointing. If you need to know where your devices are connected to, you'd need to connect to either the router or the satellite using a web browser. The router would give you more info as the satellite doesn't give you much info either. There are a lot of cyber security features that you'd need to a pay either monthly or yearly subscription for so don't get sided with all the selling points about security protection. Overall, not really happy so will be looking at something else to replace, my old Nighthawk router.

Having heard very positive things about the speed of Orbi WiFi 6 systems, I ordered this to supplement a Tenda wi-if mesh system that was in operation already. The difficulty I had with that system that while great for general use around the house, it was topping out at 120-130 mbps and was struggling to get 60 in my home office. This was mainly due to a couple of quirks of the home build effectively creating an accidental faraday cage around my workspace. Enter Orbi. Setup was really simple - plug in, switch on, let the wizard do all the connections, change passwords and network names etc. there were a couple of steps I had to repeat as the wizard seems quicker than the routers but no real drama. Result? Consistent 400Mbps in the office, basically the same speed as at the modem. The control app is typically netgear in that it has plenty of options but is typically over complicated and hides a few critical items down sub menu rabbit holes. Traffic metering for example, and device connection is a bit all over the place. Adding satellites is easy however and with 1 base and 2 satellites I’ve seen vastly increased performance across a 2300 sq ft home. Overall definitely worth it if you are happy with the cost of entry

Mid priced mid operation mid reliability

I have an old orbi, i wanted an upgrade, i tried eero 6+, tplink 75 pro, nest wifi pro and they all had issues resulting in returning them. I wanted 6e, but it turns out very few devices use it and i have 600mb internet so 6e was kind of irrelevant to me it turns out. All these other devices are also missing a very important thing which is dedicated backhaul. Even with 6e backhaul turned on for the tplink i was getting 200mb on the satelites, so i found these which have wifi 6, a dedicated backhaul for the triband vs these newer devices that say tri band but thats due to 2.4, 5 and 6ghz bands, not that they have dedicated backhaul. So now with these orbi's they do exactly what i want, they give me my full speed at the satelites, all possible because they have a dedicated 5ghz band for the backhaul, which is more than enough for my 600mb speeds. i find the orbi app lacking compared to eero and tplink apps, but orbis are by far the most superior products so in the land of 'set and forget' does an app actually matter. Really happy with these, like my old orbi, they just work, after this whole experience i'll be sticking with orbi's for the foreseeable.

First off. 4 stars as Netgear want to charge for basic services like Parental Controls which, if I had kids, I would choose a completely different product like the ASUS offering, as that is not something any of these companies should charge for. It should be a basic facility. We have had the Orbi RBK50 with one satellite in our three bedroom house for around six years now. They have been excellent. There is something about the construction of these houses which WIFI signals completely struggle with. Something in the walls I believe. It's a nightmare. The RBK50s though managed to penetrate these walls to a large degree but it was not perfect. Much much better than our previous solutions. For £199 for three of these units (2x satellites obviously) is an amazing bargain that anyone looking for a high end, albeit slightly old tech (lacking wifi 7 and 6E if you care), mesh router to smother your homes with. We have a 950mbit service and in the room above the main router, I was getting about 550mbps of that with the RBK50 system. I didn't think we could do better but considering how old our RBK50s have got, we took the plunge. Slightly smaller and lighter than the 50s, these things seriously kick out some rays as I now get over 900mbps in that same upstairs room and in the other Office room where we used to get around 100mbs, we get 850 from the second satellite. And again, I can't press hard enough that the house we live in is horrible for WIFI due to its construction. There are other systems available and some are super simple compared to this ;relatively; simple set up and probably offer basic parental controls, which is just a thing that should not be behind a paywall. Unless you go for the most expensive Orbi Systems which will cost you often eight times the cost of these at their current price, then these are an absolute bargain for some serious Wi-Fi meshing. This is our third mesh system and I have had a truck load of other WIFI solutions for home, and things have never been better than they are right now.

Works perfectly and smoothly with no problems, the Wi-Fi signal from this system was slightly more stronger than my Newer Orbi wifi7 770 mesh system.

Someone else left a review that perfectly reflects my own experience so I have near enough copied it to reiterate the subpar experience I have had with this router over the last few months since purchase; I bought this thinking it would be the best WiFi Mesh system on the market and the price would be justified by an amazing experience. After a couple of months the problems began. 1. Constant throttling of speed from 500Mbps down to 2Mbps across multiple devices. 2. Resetting the router fixed the throttling issue for a day or so each time it occurred but the frequency of the issue increased steadily over time. 3. Hours on the phone to Netgear’s lacklustre support team troubleshooting the issues across various support calls. Each time having to explain the issue from scratch even though I had a support ticket reference meaning surely there were notes left on that ticket for each agent to read. After the honeymoon period of the product they remove your customer support contact "contract" and there is then no way to contact anyone at Netgear without purchasing a contract (which isn't even available for this product!) so you are then left in the dark to attempt to troubleshoot any issues using only the forums. 4. Extensive googling brought up many, many support threads on the web of other poor souls who have experienced the same issue. None of those threads have been solved satisfactorily by any WiFi gurus (including Netgear’s own) - because it’s not a WiFi setting causing the appalling WiFi speed dropouts. It’s not MTU being set too low, nor congestion on the WiFi band. Swapping the WiFi channel to a different frequency does not solve the issue. Upgrading to the latest firmware does not solve the issue. Factory resetting the router doesn’t solve anything. It’s a manufacturing issue to do with low quality, not fit for purpose hardware. 5. You can’t split the WiFi bands out between 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz so your devices can be prone to switching to the slower 2.4Ghz frequency without you knowing. For those less versed in WiFi, this means you can’t guarantee you stay on 5Ghz (the fast band) meaning likely slower speeds for you as your devices switch over to 2.4Ghz periodically. Practically every other router on the market allows for WiFi band splitting. 6. There are no parental control options forcing you to pay for an additional parental control service if you need it. 7. You cannot prioritise devices - need to reserve your bandwidth and therefore good connection for work while your kids are playing Xbox? Watch as your video conferences fail in spectacular fashion because gaming consoles and streaming platforms like Netflix are using all your bandwidth while your PC is left with a juddery connection. I have previously used Netgears nighthawks and hoped that moving to their mesh system would be an upgrade, however it has seriously ruined my trust in the brand.

Not able to connect at all and can't use it as extender. No information inside on how to connect. The Orbi mobile application is really so bad. Don't buy it.

The product did not work as advertised and Amazon refused to return. So 50k down the drain.

Router gets good speeds, 400Mbps. The sattelite however is stuck at 20mbps while connected on cable. Been reading/googling alot, but its one of the major issues. Orbi failed imho there for this price, will not buy any other Orbi's for this reason. On wireless its even worse, distance is about 10 meters, 1st floor, backhaul connection is bad and is why i had to wired it.

NETGEAR set (router + satellite) works but one element is missing (one satellite) - pay for 3 get 2 - excellent deal but not for the buyer.
