Review: For sensible money this screen is a big hit in my book. - 43" 43UJ750V 4K HDR. **UPDATE 31/10/17** I've recently upgraded to Sky Q 2Tb box and Netflix 4k, and been able to spend a little bit more time tinkering with the TV Picture and Audio settings, as well as performing the latest Firmware update using a Web Download placed onto a USB Stick. All in all the end results of this being another boost in viewing pleasure. The Web OS environment is very responsive, there's a big selection of additional software downloads available in the LG Store such as Games etc. I also tuned up the Audio using the built in App which utilises the Smart remote to analyse the sound in your own room and suggests tweaks. It's all just so slick, simple and rewarding to use. Of note the way the LG remote works is very similar to the new Sky Q Touch remote, however I'd rate the LG system as easier to use. The family are also loving the simplicity of having Terrestrial DTV tuned in again, and the Two easy access Netflix and desertcart Prime buttons on the remote, all of which mean less external boxes, and far simpler control than with our previous setup. We are all really very happy with this purchase, and I still feel that at the 43" screen size this TV is an absolute steal. **End Update** I was replacing an 8 year old LG Plasma 720p with this screen and have found this model to be much lighter on the eyes with closer to edge to edge screen construction and a slimmer build than the older Plasma, though obviously not paper think like the super expensive OLED's it's been a welcome mark of positive progress design wise. The Sound from this unit is substantially better than the older model too, with the TV managing not to sound weak and feeble like some large screens I've tested. I can now swap happily between the ONKYO Amp driven surround sound, or the TV channels direct through the TV without it being too much of a shock to the ears. I tend not to use a Sub woofer as we have small people in the house who are easily woken by the powerful bass from these low frequency units. Instead we just have JPW Mini Monitor Golds x 4 and Tannoy Centre. I've also noticed that there are no longer any audio synch issues between this TV, the AMP and the Sky 1Tb box, which is a happy relief. In terms of picture quality the detail and colour range on this 43" screen is lovely, there are a vast array of settings in the menu system for tweakers allowing you to push the TV colour display to suit a huge range of tastes. For my part as a Graphic Designer I like nice clean sharp images, no visible compression banding and deep but natural looking colour. I was easily able to achieve these settings with only minor tinkering of levels and there was scope for much greater shifts for those who prefer the more intense or even lurid colour depths and intensities. I was pleased to see that high speed motion like Soccer and other sports are nicely drawn on the screen too, without the kind of hazing or motion blur that used to plague LCD or LED units. (That's why we used to have a 600Hz plasma.) At this end of the market in terms of size of screen, price point etc. I would highly recommend this screen to all but the most refined or picky of viewers who may feel a need to spend two or three times as much going for the OLED screens. For the ordinary viewer with an eye for detail you can't go far wrong with this LG 4K screen. Now as always it's just a waiting game to see if the machine is reliable over the long term too, but so far I've found LG (or Samsung and Panasonic) to be very dependable in this regard where faults would normally be caused by damage in transit resulting in a DOA etc. rather than any low quality components or poor design.
Review: ASTONISHING bit of kit - LG 49UJ750V 49 inch 4K Ultra HD HDR Smart LED TV (2017 Model) I have just bought the 49” model of this LG 4K TV after much research on 4K TV's. It arrived undamaged and needed the help of my wife to assemble as I did not realise just how large this TV is. After assembly, I connected up the Virgin Tivo (standard) box, as I don't have the Tivo 6 yet, and connected a 4 year old blue ray player and fired the TV up. It was easy to set up and I just followed the on screen instructions. It first scanned the Terrestrial DTV programs and stored them, and then I moved to the Tivo box. I decided to use an Ethernet cable for the super hub 2 router rather than wireless and had no trouble. The picture quality is astonishing when watching standard HD content, and 4K is unbelievable when watching a 4K Netflix film. Even standard definition is upscaled to a reasonable picture and so far we have been over the moon with the quality of this TV. We noticed very intermittent audio dropout from the Tivo box and hopefully when virgin send us a Tivo 6 this will be improved, there is no audio drop-out when streaming from Netflix via the TV app of watching TV programs such as BBC etc. Audio itself is again fantastic, music is a pleasure to listen to, and films have that surround sound quality to them. So far there is no dodgy pixels or banding, blacks look good and no backlight bleed that some buyers experience. After tweaking to my personal taste, this model TV is some serious kit. Shame that Virgin media Tivo (standard) seems to want to throttle bandwidth now and then, so, I just stream through the router and no more problems. Magic remote takes a bit of getting used to, but after a couple of hourse tweaking and exploring, I now like it very much. Our previous TV was a 1080p 32” LG, which we owned for the past 7 years with no problems and also good quality, but the new 750V is something else altogether. I managed to bag this for £589 on desertcart, and I am very pleased with it. just hope it lasts as long as the one it replaced, therefore gets a big 5 stars from me.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Quality picture and very easy to use
*by S***E on 28 April 2018*

Whilst there's a wide variation in picture and sound quality between the top and bottom TVs, there's relatively little difference between the best in class models. Where there is a big difference though is in ease of use. For us this is what makes one brand/model stand out over another when both have very good pictures. We wanted to upsize our 32" Sony to a larger 43" set - anything bigger would look out of place in our lounge. We'd been happy with the Sony at first, especially when we bought a Denon soundbox to go with it. However the smart features were frustrating and slow. In particular, typing what we wanted to view on YouTube was so slow and fiddly we soon rarely used the TV for this, falling back on our laptops. An additional consideration is that we wanted my wife to be able to watch TV without disturbing me. Her existing perfectly good radio headphones connect into a 3.5mm headphone socket, but we discovered that many makers no longer include a headphone socket, and if they do so not on the lower price sets. Edit note: the successor (2018) model doesn't have a headphone socket so you may want to grab this one while you can. Finally, at present we watch SD and HD programs via our Sky dish but we wanted our new set to be as future proof as possible. There's a lot less choice in 43" sets, and little or none at the top end of the market, that was beyond our budget anyway. After a lot of research we bought this LG 43UJ750V (their highest spec 43" set) and we're very pleased with it. My wife even liked the silver surround although I didn't. Here are our initial thoughts that we may update after some more use. PICTURE QUALITY - 4 STARS The SD and HD picture quality is a huge improvement on our old Sony. The picture on both SD and HD is much sharper thanks to the upscaling. Indeed, my wife commented that some of the scenes have almost a 3D quality. The colours are also better than the Sony. Apart from LG's test shots we haven't viewed any 4K content yet because there's little available, plus our internet connection is much too slow (e.g. 25Mbps+ is recommended for Netflix 4K). However we're looking forward to trying some 4K Blu-rays. The only slight criticisms are the somewhat reflective screen, plus a little loss of contrast, especially in the darker scenes. The latter is probably due to the IPS panels that LG have used, but on the other hand this allows for a very wide viewing angle compared with the VA panels on say, similar Samsungs. Even well off to the side there's no drop in picture quality, and this may be important if several people are watching. It's said that HDR (High Dynamic Range) is going to improve picture quality even more than 4K. Once again there's little content available so far. Moreover, the manufacturers haven't settled on a standard yet and are backing different horses. This LG set supports 3 of the main contenders (HDR10, HLG and Dolby Vision), and this should help with future proofing. SOUND QUALITY - 4 STARS Once again this is vastly better than our 32" Sony, although to be fair that's at least partly because it's a bigger set. Speech in particular is a lot clearer. However 43" is still small compared with the popular 55" sets, and as a result there's a comparative lack of bass. Hooking up our sound box though soon sorted this out. FEATURES - 5 STARS Although this is only a mid-price set it's absolutely full of features. It has built-in Freesat HD and Freeview HD so you don't need a separate set top box (although as we don't have an aerial we can't access the latter). It also has Freeview Play that allows fast and easy access to catch-up TV if you don't use a Sky box. Note that some competitors don't allow catch-up on all channels that offer it, but LG does. The set connects to the internet via LG's webOS3.5, although again we haven't tried this much yet. There's also a good selection of apps available, some of which are pre-installed. There's a built-in single PVR to record programmes if you plug in a hard drive, but we use our more versatile Sky box that allows us to to watch a different channel whilst we record others. EASE OF USE - 5 STARS This is where this set really scores. It comes with LG's "Magic Remote" that makes it extremely easy to use. We had our doubts at first about the mouse-like pointer but soon got used to it and now prefer it, although you can also use conventional up/down buttons. There's also 1 click access to Netflix, Amazon, settings, home and more. Another great feature is the speed dial. For instance we've set it up so that a long press of the 1 button goes to Sky, 2 to YouTube etc. We also love the voice control, that speeds up navigation immensely. In fact we'd never buy another set without this feature. The only slight negative is the lack of a quick start guide, although we didn't find it too difficult to set up. SUMMARY We're extremely pleased with this set and certainly recommend it to anyone who wants a quality, easy to use TV of this size. If you want a larger size it's available in 49, 55, 60 and 65 inch versions. THANK-YOU AMAZON! Because we're Prime customers we had free next day delivery. However our set came without a power lead and we had an hour's round trip to buy one. It cost us just £6.99 but Amazon gave us a £50 gift card for the inconvenience!
