Does the door closer have a damping mechanism so the door doesn't slam shut but closes slowly?

I am afraid not but the spring tension can be adjusted by rotating the door jamb plate anticlockwise before installation to help prevent the door from slamming shut.Trial & error prevails. PC

The barrel is 25mm diameter x 138 mm long.

I fitted this Yale door closer to a non Fire Door but if it helps, a company called Perko manufacture concealed door closers that conforms to the current Fire Regulations. Expensive but has a 10 year guarantee.
