Then I tried a CD-RW burn in my Linux laptop and found that it was not the discs, so I decided to try a different brand. These LGs were the newest on desertcart in this price range (mine was manufactured Jan '18), and since we have several LG domestic appliances as well as a TV and two monitors that have been very reliable, I went for this one. It is very quiet, which suits my quiet PC, the plastic face plate feels substantial, and the chunky open/close button has a very good, positive feel - works really well, unlike my previous Lite-On. It reads, burns, plays, writes, erases, etc. as it should. It's even fairly quiet yet very quick at verifying. It could also erase my previously ruined CD-RW discs, too, restoring some 20-odd coasters I had kept to use in the garden. I am confident that it will last a long time. (Touch wood.) It arrived early by UPS from its German supplier, very well boxed, wrapped in bubble-pack and nestled in plastic balloons, along with a manufacturer's guarantee.
