would this cpu work on asus z690 with or with out abios update

You must make a updated bios first.

can i use this cpu on az690 without updating the bios

No. You must updated bios first.

Does it come with thermal paste?

No thermal paste came with mine. You need to purchase a cooler separately for this CPU and these typically come bundled with thermal compound however I still purchased a higher performance compound separately as I wanted maximum cooling possible in case I were to overclock.
