Why are the s/m version taller and wider (though shorter) than the l/xl version?

I bought a few s/m because I like to keep the ball of my foot to be on the pedal. But I've seen other bikes with the l/xl version and they didn't look narrower. Maybe it's the photograph that gives that impression.

Can you recommend pedals that these will fit

All metal pedals should be ok. I fitted them to resin pedals, but I needed to drill them out a bit

I am a size 42 women’s, would I need medium or large please?

I'm 43 European male and I prefer the small size because it keeps the ball of my feet on the pedal. I don't like my feet being further forward.

Do they come as a pair?

Yes. These toe clips come as a pair
