Great Battery Grip
Arrived on first day of estimate. Bought with two spare batteries. Feels solid and looks good. Fits smoothly onto my 700D. All buttons work well and do as they should. Have only done a quick test so far and seems to be excellent value for money. Should last for years if treated as camera equipment normally is, but for 1/6th the cost of an OEM, does it matter if it breaks or gets lost. I will expand on this review only if I find I have problems in using it. Really great piece of kit. Recommending it around my local camera club. Not enough use yet to assess battery quality but they appear to be as good as OEM so far. 03/05/15 Now six months after purchase, time for an update. It is always on the camera, feels strange if I take it off now. It is really working well. No problems whatsoever. Standing up very well to the use it gets and the batteries are good too. Two members of my camera club have bought the grip after my recommendation and are very happy with it. Well worth the money spent on it.

Doubles battery life and (for me) is now much easier to grip!
I have pretty big hands being a tall guy, and this was one of the main motives for me to get a battery grip for my Canon 600D DSLR. In this area and many others, it does not disappoint! Now first things first, this only cost a little under £20, much cheaper than the official Canon battery grip, so I was expecting possibly a low-ish quality, but not at all! More than impressed with the grip and feel of it once installed and it matches that of the camera itself. It is installed by removing the battery door of the camera and then sliding it in to the battery compartment. You can add either one or two batteries, or use AAs, however I can only imagine using AA batteries making this very expensive to run! So I purchased two further batteries, one to be used with the original battery, and one as a spare. I took this, with two fully charged batteries, on a two week holiday where I took over 1000 RAW images, including some 1080p videos too, and amazingly by the time I returned from my holiday the camera still showed the battery life as full, which blew me away! As mentioned earlier, the extra length, width, and grip really adds to the ease of usability for someone with larger hands like myself. It now makes extended use a lot more comfortable. The last feature this battery grip brings to the already more than worthy purchase is that it has additional buttons on it, those include shutter, Av, Zoom in and out, of which depending on what you're doing on the camera have other functions. There is also a power button on the grip so that you can turn these buttons on and off, if you're just taking landscape photos then leave it off to conserve battery life. If you happen to be doing portraits then you can just flip the camera 90 degrees and then the shutter button will be in the same place as normal, and makes the whole camera one big square, making it much easier to handle and manoeuvre. I haven't had any problems with this product yet and have kept it on ever since purchasing it. I would recommend this to any Canon 550D or 600D owner who has big hands and wants a more reassuring grip, longer battery life, or even just a more comfortable and natural feeling way of taking shots in the portrait orientation.

Weighty
I wanted a grip to make my camera feel bigger and to have a bit more weight so that it was a bit more comfortable to hold. For that purpose, it's pretty good. All the buttons functioned as expected and the position of the additional trigger is perfect for portrait photography, however I found the position of the eye piece was awkward when used in this way. Using live view was more comfortable. Sadly, the camera doesn't re-orient the screen when turned sideways, so if you're using the grip the menu is tough to navigate unless you constantly move the camera. More a criticism of the camera than the grip but worth noting. Also, in portrait mode I'm not sure I'd be comfortable mounting on a tripod as it made the camera really heavy. Fine for landscape work though. With the grip, my camera is certainly more weighty, but more than I was actually expecting. I find my Canon 700D is a bit too light but this takes it to the other extreme. Maybe I need to re-distribute the batteries as it does work with just one, but for now it's staying in my bag for when I need it, not attached to the camera. If you have a lens that is at least a couple of inches away from the body, then holding it for support should be comfortable, however with a pancake lens, the way the grip protrudes from the bottom means it's difficult to work with. I can see it being far more comfortable with a zoom lens, but the one I have is quite heavy which then adds to the weight issue! The build quality is good and it matches perfectly with the camera. In fact, looking at photos of the Canon version, it seems to be identical. I'd recommend it but especially at such a low price.

Great quality and unreal value
What can I tell you. Looks like a Canon original part, feels like a canon original part, functions like a canon original part....how is this so cheap? Exactly as described, comes well packaged and with two internal trays (for AA and standard cam batteries) has a good rubbery texture to the grip. All the buttons function perfectly and the unit has its own power isolation so you can switch it off in landscape (save accidentally hitting a button) fits perfectly to my Eos camera body and is super secure, no wobble, not even a fraction of movement it just feels like it’s part of the body. Worked from the second I attached, no faffing , no issues. Let’s be honest if it lasts 6 months at this price I’ll be happy but I have a feeling it will last a lot longer. I will be putting it through its paces in the next 3 months In the video I show how the power switch works To isolate the buttons and how, once switched on, the shutter button wakes the camera and all the other buttons function just like they do on the main body.

I'm really happy with this product! I was using a Canon EOS 700D before and the battery grip that came with it stopped working after a while. I decided to get this one as a replacement and it works great! It's very easy to install and use and it makes my camera feel a lot more sturdy. I would definitely recommend it to anyone!
