## Questions & Answers

**Q: what type of switches are these?**
A: The keyboard uses Outemu Blue switches/ https://hermanote.wordpress.com/2018/03/15/clickety-clack-tecknet-mechanical-keyboard-review/

**Q: Am I able to turn the rainbow setting off? so theres no lights at all on the keyboard**
A: Yes, the lighting has 10 different modes, including permanent light, breathing light and no light. You can cycle through them by pressing the scroll lock key (ScrLk) which is found on the upper right corner of the keyboard.

**Q: Are the colours customisable? Say I want the modifiers to be one colour, and the rest another. Is this doable?**
A: As there is no software for this keyboard, you cannot change the colours, the keyboard has built in patterns you can cycle through, but you can't customise to the extent you want

**Q: what instructions come with the yama?**
A: There's a small fold-out card which tells you everything you to know.

It is plug and play, but there are specific instructions (such as how to turn down the keyboard lights) which the instructions card explains.

## Customer Reviews

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Excellent
*by on Reviewed in the United Kingdom 5 October 2026*

I LOVE this keyboard. Super quiet, but has a lovely feel to it. Lights add a nice colourful appearance, and the metal frame gives this a solid feel. Cannot go wrong for the price.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Great Keyboard, but temperamental lighting, and paint wears off keycaps quickly
*by on Reviewed in the United Kingdom 31 July 2026*

EDIT: 08 September 2026Updated to 5 stars. Tecknet very kindly sent me a replacement keyboard as the keycaps cannot be replaced. I was under the impression this was an actual mech keyboard, but it's s membrane with a mech feel. Other than that, it is still working fine. I see that Tecknet have an actual mechanical keyboard for sale, so I may try that out and see what the switches are like.🥰Pros:Keyboard has metal frame - something that you don't always get with more expensive options.Keyboard has a lovely, tactile feel. The switches aren't heavy nor need excessive pressure.Has the perfect balance of "clicking" when typing. I only use for writing, spreadsheets, data, etc. I don't play PC games, so cannot comment on the responsiveness in that regard.Back-light options are great and easy to controlCons:Key cap paint does not last, especially the A and S. Paint has completely worn away on multiple keys, but A and S went first.Caps Lock LED light is temperamental and only switches on when it wants toDoes not specify which switches you need/ can use to replace key caps.If you accidentally bump a key when the pc is shut down fully, the keyboard will switch on.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Good value, a few niggles, suspect durability of keycaps.
*by on Reviewed in the United Kingdom 21 April 2025*

This feels like a good quality keyboard, especially for the money. Metal case, heavy and solid feeling and all the light ing bling you could hope for. It loses a star for a couple of niggles. There is no way to make the backlight stay on. It turns off after five minutes of not touching it. This annoys me as the keys are difficult to see with the backlight off. It is also worth pointing out the I've had this keyboard about seven months and the up arrow key is already losing its paint. To be fair though, this is an issue with all the backlit keyboards I've had. I've now replaced it with a red dragon which doesn't seem to have the niggles but only time will tell on the durability of the keycaps.EDIT:- I have to alter this review as the issue with the double tapping CTRL was not the fault of the keyboard. It was me being an idiot, I had it plugged into a KVM which was causing the issue. So apologies to Tecknet for thaty misinformation. My only real gripe now is the backlight switching off after five minutes. If that doesn't botheer you then this is an excellent keyboard, especially for the money.
