Thanks!** A: I use the included collet chucks, the 7mm (6.17mm) mandrel fits into the 6mm collet and the 8mm should fit into the 8mm collet. It is possible to fit a mandrel into a three jaw chuck however I haven't tried it but would expect it to slip. don't use the 4 jaw chuck because the jaws are individually tightened and will be off centre. **Q: I want to use a pen mandrel that has a diameter of 6mm. Is it possible to use to use it just by buying this? Or would i need to buy chucks seperatly?** A: It comes with various collets and the largest is 10mm **Q: does this come with the faceplate?** A: I bought this for making masts and spars for ship modelling, do the diameter of the wood is small 4-8mm. It comes with a basic faceplate but I never use it. I bought this to go with it. I have read reviews where it says it is noisy, I would say far from it, I was surprised how quiet it is (it is a motor so there will be some noise). ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Great *by G***S on 31 January 2025* Great for wooden ship modellers ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Superb tool, but damaged on receipt *by B***X on 24 May 2023* I opened the suspiciously rattling box to discover all items loose within the box, no packing whatsoever. I suspect a returned item that hadn't been inspected before being resold as new. Needless to say damage had occured, with one side of the motor housing being broken completely. The sad fact is I needed the machine deperately, and as it obviously was still in working order I glued the side back in position (see photo) and made do. Despite the unsatisfactory way the item had been received, the mini-lathe lived, and lives, up to the manufactures rightly deserved good reputation. It performs its duties well and absolutely as it should. Its quite noisy, but it can hardly be expected to run silently, but it does what it is intended to do well. The supplied collets cope with most diameters of round dowelling very well, but are not really expected to be a permanent solution, and the purchase of a good quality three jaw chuck. (Not 4 jaw, a 3 jaw is self centering, a 4 jaw is not!). Such a chuck will soon become an absolute requirement. The chuck manufactured by Proxxon themselves is the obvious choice and turns the lathe into a much more capable and professional tool. Highly recommended.
