I would take it out, take it apart and clean the filters (not easy to do either) - it is then hellishly difficult to re-assemble and align. I bought this in July - by December it had packed up completely, the propeller on the motor was sticking and even if I could coax it to work the flow was so poor my water was becoming dirty very quickly - One of my best fish died as a result afetr it finally broke altogether and i was waiting for a new pump to arrive. Certainly not worth anywhere near what I paid for it.
