Essential purchase - if you are a serious gamer/simmer.
Excellent product. Bought it for using with Elite:Dangerous and it has transformed the game. Coupled with a hotas controller setup, this is the only way to get the best from Elite in my mind. I've heard people saying the Track Clip Pro is flimsy and doesn't work very well compared to the Track Clip used on a cap. I've tried both and can safely say that the Pro is superb and I have had no issues with it, nor does it feel like I could break it easily unless I grabbed at it aggressively. The only downside is that the Pro needs to fit to your headset, so there isn't the option to not used headphones when gaming. To be honest, I always wear a headset so it's no big issue for me. Can take a bit of getting used to, but after a week or so it becomes second nature. The added bonus is that it supports so many other games I have too. I also use Flight Sim and have done for years, but haven't yet tried TIR with it yet, so can't comment - but I have only ever heard good things about it. I just can't stop playing Elite, so haven't had the time! I expect using it with FSX addons like the PMDG NGX must be great though and hope to try it out soon. A few tips: Make sure you have enough room above your monitor for the camera to sit on. I had to remove a shelf that sat above my monitor to make room for it. Give yourself about 10cm and you should be fine. If using it for Elite, download a good Elite profile to use with it. Search the net and you will find them. Also try combining this with Voice Attack (http://www.voiceattack.com) and ED Voice Pack (http://www.elitedangerousvoicepack.com) and you will have the ultimate setup for Elite. Controlling your ship with voice commands is superb!

Returned/faulty item sold as new.
Purchased this which was sold as new and received an obviously damaged item. The package was poorly resealed with cello tape and the camera was visibly scratched and discoloured. It was also defective, with one of the LED lights completely broken. Be warned.

Flimsy construction, but will transform your gaming
I'd been thinking about getting one of these for ages, after first having seen it demonstrated in a Youtube video of DCS Black Shark, but was put off by a) the high price and b) the fact that it wasn't widely available in the UK at the time. However, a couple of months ago I bought a Thrustmaster Warthog HOTAS for use with DCS A10c. That's an excellent piece of kit, but the point-of-view hat is pretty much useless since it is mounted too high to easily reach with one's thumb and is also quite stiff to use. However, since its primary function is as the trim switch, you can't really complain about this. Since poor POV is the kiss of death in a combat flight simulator, I realised that it was time to bite the bullet and buy the Trackir 5. It was delivered promptly enough and was plug and play, so I was in the cockpit in a matter of minutes. I wasn't hugely surprised to find myself experiencing a headache during my initial session, but after that first time I've not had any such problems. Even using the default profile I found that the Trackir instantly improved my DCS A10C gaming experience beyond recognition. The sim had sat unused on my hard disk for many months before I bought the Warthog and Trackir, because I'd found that I simply couldn't manage the various systems in real time because of the time it took to change view and/or zoom in and out. In trying to set up a Maverick attack I would constantly over run the target because of the time it was taking to change views and zoom levels, and I'd frequently crash because I'd lost awareness of my attitude and altitude. Now, with the Trackir and with zoom mapped to my Warthog HOTAS slider, all of those frustrations are a thing of the past, and the sensation of being in a real 3D cockpit hugely adds to the immersion factor. To be honest, I couldn't see myself ever buying another flight sim which didn't offer Trackir compatibility. The only downside of the product is it's incredibly flimsy construction. I managed to break one of the articulating joints, and - having seen the size of the little plastic prong which had snapped - was only amazed that it had lasted as long as it had. I did manage to repair it, but someone in the Trackir design department needs a reality check. I've found other references on the internet to this same fault.

Highly recommended
ordered this just before xmas, installed without fuss, just download latest software from site and load before connecting trackir. little bit fiddly setting up centered view before starting your game. need to ajust trackir on your monitor to suit your seating postion. I have used it with ARMA 2,arrowhead and IL2 1946 Superb! If you are thinking of buying more monitors to give the extended view don't bother use this much cheaper than spending out on extra 2 monitors. It comes with peaked cap for the track clip to fit onto and the pro clip will fit to your ear phones. Which is nice it you don't want to use the ear phones you can use the trackclip with the cap, has two separate settings. Little tip remember to click on which either you are using and look straight at the screen to reset your centred view before going into the game. The tracir software has remain on when entering the game, it will minimize it self to your tray. The company delivered it in good time, only grip is that they give you a tracking number for la poste which is difficult to find due to the many different sites. I did find a link that was in english which worked but found this on a forum which was from 2002, I have passed this on to the company. I did email thinking the trackir had not arrived and they replied promptly. It had arrived and been hidden away for christmas! update to my earlier review may 2012, the tracker has been fine and I can't say enough how well it works with some sims the freedom you feel when looking around rather than using the mouse or hat button is great, it does take awhile to adjust yourself to it but persevere it is worth it. It is a shame that it has not been picked up by other games developers as an option i.e. call of duty, battlefield, crysis, etc would be great in those. I have ended up buying extra monitors over time and when used in conjunction with the Tracker 'well what a head spin' :) Another tip I was getting a lot of jerking when in IL2 1946 which did quite annoying especially when in dog fights, I then realised light does effect it. If you have a window behind you, you will need to close blinds/curtains and this will solve the problem.

Great piece of kit
I got this as I play a lot of Milsim (military simulation) with my clan on ARMA 2 & ARMA 3. It takes a bit of getting used to as I wasn't used to moving my head around that much whilst playing but after some time using it I am very happy. Great piece of kit for anything flying-related.. be it a flight sim or in my case, flying helicopters and fixed wing on ARMA 2. Pros: - Really easy to set up, including the clip for the headset - Easy to adjust to get the settings you like - Very useful for flying, as you can look around without having to press freelook keys or different camera keys. Cons: - Limited use, like I said it's only really useful for flight games and in some cases infantry/armour simulation (ARMA series). Coupled with the price, only get it if you know you'll use it. - It uses a magnet to snap onto the base, and I've found it's incredibly easy to knock off of the base. I keep accidentally knocking it off when I lean over my monitor. Overall, it's an awesome piece of kit that you should definitely buy if you love flight sims. :)

Never again.
This is the second time I've had this issue. It worked for 2 weeks and then suddenly stopped working.

Not the pro version
Don't be fooled by the headline. This is not the pro version. It does not contain the pro head tracking set that clips to your headphones - just the tracker for a ball cap. You're not getting a bargain.

Amazing Product, Price hike is insane and TrackClip PRO USED to come with it!
This is a great device, i love it, if it wasn't for a few issues id give it 5/5 however there are several things that bug me that dropped it down to a 3: Firstly... I purchased this exact product back in 2014, its in my previous orders as this: Natural Point Track IR 5 with Track Clip Pro, to fit a headset, and Vector Clip to fit a Baseball Cap (Cap and headset Not included) £139.99. This device is a direct link when i click "Purchase again". Back then for £139.99 you didn't get the cap but you got the, currently £45, TrackClip PRO AND TrackClip with it....Now all you get is a barely functional reflector which i will go into shortly. Now i do know about inflation and all that but in 3 years the price has gone up £41 it could at least still include the TrackClip Pro......Especially considering the Occulus Rift is out. That brings me on to the TrackClip that comes with it...its flawed: If you have a light behind you on the ceiling switched on, the tracker will flip out every 15 seconds or so. If you wear glasses, the reflection will cause the tracker to flip out every 15 seconds or so If someone walks past you to close, the tracker will flip out If you scratch your face in a manner that displeases the tracker, it will flip out. The TrackClip + Hat is barely functional, and as such to actually use your device effectively you NEED the TrackClip Pro, which is an extra £44.95, so the actual price of a proper functioning TrackIR device is £226.14, and that's minus delivery. This is entirely to much, especially considering the build tracking of the TrackClip PRO is VERY fragile. For that reason, its 3/5, it would be 2/5 but the actual device when working is immensely good and a must have addition if your not going down the Rift Route for Sims and games like ED. I still recommend, but the info above should be considered....

Just Can't Sim Without It
I tried FacetrackNoIR for a few hours, thought it was really cool and gave me a taste of what headtracking would be like. But it was jittery and just not anywhere close to the level of precision I wanted. Ordered TrackIR5 a few days later after debating whether it would be worth the price and I'm happy to say I have absoloutly no regrets. I'm just using the basic trackclip that came with the product on a hat. Curves were solid out of the box and only needed like 10 seconds of tweeking on the Y-axis for me to work as I wanted. You're paying for the solid plug-and-play software just as much as you are the hardware itself. I've been using it with FSX;SE and the Chaseplane camera addon. Practicing GA patternwork has become a million times better now and just tracking your turn out on to final with your head feels amazing. In additon, I can look down to quickly access buttons and switches that before required me to hit buttons on my keyboard to swap to pre-set camera angles. If anything I just wish the mount was better suited for my laptop's thin screen. It works fine but is a tiny bit loose as it was designed for thicker bulkier monitors. It's sits okay but only at its most extreme position. Luckily the mount is magnetized and independent of the actual IR sensor / blaster meaning I can likely 3D print a new mount for my laptop or something. Otherwise tracks great, easy setup. Solid precision and absoloutly 0 un-wanted jitter or head movement out of the box. I suggest you try FacetrackNoIR to get a sense of what head tracking is and then purchase TrackIR after. It'll totally change the way you sim. Here are hopes we get TIR5 support for Flight Simulator 2020. For me its a far better solution than VR as I still get to run the sim at 1080p without it looking blurry like in VR (for me that also means less motion sickness). And overall significantly less money. I'd 100% recommend this product if you take sims even remotely seriously.

Bewegungsfreiheit
Klare Kaufempfehlung,
