Fantastic little mic
A fantastic microphone for the money. Add it to a good pair of headphones like the Phillips SHP-9500 and you'll have a much better headset than most £200 headsets on sale. The mic is extremely clear. Not too trebbly, and has good lowend and depth to it. The only downside is it can pickup more background noise than I'd have wished for. It also doesn't come with a boom pop filter. The mute switch and volume slider is nice and works well. The cable is great quality, a braided black cable which is fairly thin and unobtrusive. Don't let that put you off, it feels that it will last the test of time. I had to use the provided splitter for it to work on my PC so be cautious. It wouldn't work on the my PC IO with the single 3.5mm jack. I put the splitter into 1 mic input and 1 audio input on my internal soundcard to work. Sound quality to the headphones is completely unaffected which is a huge plus. All in all a great and clever little device

The box says professional grade mic... it sure feels it!
Having tried more gaming headsets than I'd like to admit and being so very disappointed with the quality of the mic's, I was skeptical that this paired with my Sennheiser 598's would be any better. I could not be more wrong! I stream games using OBS, and for every headset I've tried I've had to add suppression, gain and noise gate filters. Only one of the headsets I tried it actually worked on. But even then I was not happy. One of my main problems is I am a "nasal gamer" (as I like to call it) so all mics pick up my breathing in a bad way lol. So onto this mic, WOW! First off, I was able to completely remove all filters on OBS. Didn't need any suppression or noise gate to block unwanted sounds. This mic only picks up me. The sound is super clear, and it actually makes my voice sound like I would expect to here it. I can even move the mic well away from my mouth and it's still loud and clear. I cannot stress how clear this mic is. Their is no breathing, no static, no background noise. Truly awesome. The box says professional grade mic... it sure feels it! The stork is my next favourite feature. It is extremely flexible. You bend it, and it stays. Very nice. My only worry is whether this rigidness stays over time. We will see. The control unit works well. It has a volume dial and a mute switch and a clip on the back to attach it to clothes. One criticism here though is I think that unit is too big. Many others have the same functionality in a lot smaller unit. It could be stuff that makes this thing so awesome and clear though is housed in there so I'm not grumbling. It doesn't get in the way so its fine. The braided cable is nice and long and comes with a nice quality cable tie. Useful as I use a game controller so I don't have to have miles of cable all over. In the box is an adapter to convert the 3.5 jack into a headphone and mic jack for those that prefer to plug directly into their computer sockets. All jacks appear gold so looks quality to me. I was mildy disappointed that a mic this good let itself down a little by not coming with a pop filter, but I bought a pack of 10 mini's off Amazon anyway for a fiver so at least I have spares. Final verdict, this mic is the business! If you are struggling to find a boom mic style gaming headset, make your own. Having tried so many different high end gaming headsets, I'm confident I now have the perfect headset... Sennheiser 598SR + V-MODA BoomPro Microphone.

but it isn't necessarily a bad thing; recordings are super clear
The quality on the microphone is superb - on par or greater to many headsets I've tried. There is more bass to this microphone than others, but it isn't necessarily a bad thing; recordings are super clear. There was originally some static, however this was resolved by disabling the AMD HDMI Audio drivers. Not all issues are hardware! You will need a pair of headphones with a 3.5mm port, myself using the V-MODA M100 Crossfades however they will work with other brands too. I highly recommend this solution over the popular Mod Mic - less cables, higher quality. All I simply do is plug the top into my headphones, then plug the 4-pin jack into the included splitter (for computer use, phones and tablets would support a all in one 4-pin) to plug in the headphone and microphone ports of my computer. Originally having the microphone to the side was a tad bit annoying while not-gaming. You can turn the microphone around to not be in your vision, or simply switch out the cable, else you'll get used to it quickly and forget it's there. The arm holding the microphone stays in place and doesn't feel flimsy. Having the microphone itself detachable would make this product absolutely perfect. The reason for 4 stars is that unlike other V-MODA products, the materials used aren't super-high quality, although they do the job. If you've owned a pair of V-MODA headphones, you know the quality of the cables. While this is decent, it isn't as good. Likewise the box with volume control/mute works but feels lower-cost than the rest of the product. I don't fear this breaking, only that it could be made from a nicer material. However, this is acceptable as it keeps the cost of the high-quality microphone down, although it wouldn't break the bank.

Excellent addition to many headphones
Initially I looked into purchasing this for my V-Moda Crossfade LP (original, not 2) as I prefer the idea of a boom mic, rather than in-line mic for playing games and using voice chat through Steam. I was rather surprised to find that this will not work with only V-Moda products but any headphones that have a standard 3.5mm jack (there might be exceptions, but I don't know), as the mic aspect is only in the cable. That's excellent news for future purchases of headphones and my recommendations of headsets for other people. Mic quality has been reported to me as being exceptionally clear. It's a mic so don't expect to sound like you're in the same room as another player and, obviously, it will depend on the quality of their headset as well but the first description was that I sounded like I was talking on a phone with good clarity. It's a mic - there are variables galore but positive feedback all round. The cable itself is pretty decent. The cable has a standard 3.5mm jack that works with Apple products, 3DS systems and the like. There's a separate adapter for plugging into the PC. I'm not sure about the in-line controls but I'm going to leave it out of pros vs cons because I can't make up my mind; there's nothing that I can put my finger on that is "bad", let's put it that way. The boom mic, astoundingly, feels solid and flimsy at the same time. It's extremely easy to bend the mic (cable? Pole? I don't know the term) but at the same time it doesn't feel like it's going to break any time soon. I can only assume that it's that well-made. If I had one niggle about the cable it's the inability to vary the length; it's too long for where I have it plugged in and I can see that other people would have a similar issue if they plug this into the front of their PC, for example. I can't call it a negative per se, however, as it's a cable length. Some people may need it to be longer. One negative I do have is that the PC adapter could have had a clearer way to illustrate which is the mic and which is audio. There is a symbol on the side of the jacks with headphones on one and an arrow on the other but I would have preferred coloured bands (do they have a term?) on the jacks, rather than them both being black. Not much else can be said, really. It's a cable that works with the headphones and the mic is clear.

Great product but wouldn’t work with my Sony Pulse Headset.
The microphone works well, it picks up a lot of sound so I moved the mic to be just below my chin and it gave me the best quality. Unfortunately, I think I got a faulty pair. It wouldn’t give me sound quality. Well, it did but I’d have to hold the wire into the headset all the way otherwise it wouldn’t work. I’m using the Sony Pulse headset, the original one from PS5. So it’s maybe 4-6 years old this headset. Only giving it a 1 star review incase this is helpful to others. This product does seem great! It’s just unfortunate it couldn’t work with my headset. Also, I purchased this so I could use my headset on pc for discord, work etc

Great quality microphone
I’m super happy with this microphone. I bought one in 2018 and it has accompanied me through thousands of hours of gaming and home working. Recently the mic stopped working. I took that as a chance to try out a couple of other mics (one cheap desk mic and one expensive gaming headset) but both had worse audio quality so I bought another BoomPro. I’m glad they are still making the same model after seven years!

great micrphone- but is barely function after 2 years. maybe thats ok?
Bought microphone in January 2020, The sound quality of voice recording is fantastic for the price. The fact that the microphone is very flexible, means you can bend it at any angle that suits you best. I've honestly been so happy with the product for the price of £31 at time of my purchase of it. Unfortunately, as of July 2022, the product is now very temperamental. I have to twist the connector end several times to get the sound come out of both sides of my headphones. The microphone works fine, but as it also acts as an input for headphones, the headphone audio doesn't come out of both ears and i really have to twiddle with the cable to get it working. And yes, i have tested the microphone on other headsets its the same issue. So to summarise, i don't really know if this mic (which is very affordable at £30) will last you more than a couple of years.

Amazing sound quality; works out of the box
I got this because I had a pair of headphone (beyerdynamic custom one) with a detachable cable. However, they did not have a mic so I could not use them for gaming on my PS4. Also, the mic on my laptop was not that great. But these work brilliantly! The sound quality is amazing! And they work with my laptop, phone, and PS4. No issues. The price is slighly steep, but it is definitely worth the sound quality! You can control sound volume with a knob/scroll. You can also switch the mic on and off using a switch. They all work perfectly, The cable is braded and everything feels high quality. Except the case of the volume/mic control. The plastic is not... fancy? OK, at this point I am expecting too much hahah
