Stoplock 'Pro' Car Steering Wheel Lock W/Keys HG 149-00 - Anti-Theft Security Device - Vehicle Crime Prevention, Black and Yellow (Pack of 1)

Have an 18 year old Peugeot 106. Low mileage, runs brilliantly and takes 30 seconds to break in with a small screwdriver (I've done it myself, when locked keys inside) and believe can be hotwired (not that I've tried that though). Hence need for a stoplock. Had the non-pro version Stoplock HG 134-59 Original Steering Wheel Lock for a few years, until the lock wore out (it would open by itself). The non-pro version also marked the steering wheel as it clamps tightly. This is a much better item. The locking mechanism is very secure and tough, and looks like it will last forever. The clamping mechanism is cleverer - two hoops, with plenty of space, so they don't mark the steering wheel (and on my car, can be place either side of the arm, making it even more secure). The slight downside is it's a bit longer, and heavier, making it a bit more cumbersome to fit. But you get used to it in no time, especially considering the security and peace of mind it brings. So, don't waste money on the cheaper version, this is the real thing and will last.

Highly recommended. This is a great security device and a must for car's now a days that are keyless. My concern was if someone used some form of cloning technique and got in the car, without one of these they can just drive off. I had one of the lower priced non pro Stop Lock versions of these on previous car, this looks and feels much more difficult to remove. Anything that can put a thief off breaking in to car and trying to steal it is a good thing, especially with the cost of insurance going up if you have to claim the £48 I paid for this device is cheap.

I was just checking this product out for a friend and noticed it was not supposed to fit my VW car. I can't remember seeing such a notice when I bought my Stoplock early in the year- but it does fit my VW and I'm pleased with the product. I position the steering wheel so I can put one of the claws through the aperture in one of the steering wheel spokes. I think it's more secure that way. Although the Stoplock fits my VW car when it shouldn't, I noticed one or two others found that the Stoplock pressed against the big centre horn button. Slight pressure on the Stoplock arm would then sound the horn. I overcame that by putting a small piece of thick, tough self-adhesive felt (which I happened to have) on the back of the lock housing. When located on the steering wheel, the thick felt (about a quarter inch thick) spaced the lock housing away from the steering wheel and spaced the arm from the horn button. It was then a good fit with no risk of the horn sounding. Hence my giving it four stars.

Well made product which gets good reviews in the motoring press etc. Easy to attach to the steering wheel. As said earlier the product is well made and as a result it is quite heavy which you notice when you manoeuvre it inside the car but this is a price worth paying. The bright colour makes the presence of the lock very obvious which is a good deterrent. Very pleased with the purchase and have in fact purchased one for our other car.

The car steering lock is an ideal size for my car, always check which of the several sizes that are available with this make before purchasing. The lock is heavy and may prove to be too much for an elderly person with weak arms, but for most people, the weight of the product reflects its strength which is a good thing. I would strongly recommend this type of steering lock, it’s robust, easy to fix or undo and the plastic coating protects any damage to the steering wheel itself.

I have purchased several of these for my cars and they work exactly as they’re described. Just make sure to visit the manufacturer’s website to see what model is recommended for your specific car as the shape of them means they don’t fit all cars. Very happy with the locks in all cases. Someone attempted to break into my car and that’s what prompted me to buy my first one of these. The big yellow lock deters thieves after reading reviews from the UK these a just about the highest rated steering wheel locks you can buy. I saw so many when visiting the UK and it surprised me as I hadn’t seen steering locks since the eighties. If your car has one, the thieves will walk past it to another car. Much cheaper here than in shops in Australia.
