Brilliant
I would recomment this to anyone, I have bought 2, To be honest I have not tried any of the competitors at cheaper prices but i feel this is bang on what its worth. There is no setup its literally just plug in mains and spin the remote to whatever colour you want. It has a brightness setting so you can dim it as low as you want to and there is a colour setting so you can have the colours as bold or weak as you want, I put this behind my TV and have it on full beam, It lights up the entire room and makes the wall its pointing at glow very nicely as whatever colour i choose The wall is 3M long so its quite a large wall. I bought this just as an entertaining toy for house parties and to get rid of eye strain during long computer gaming sessions and it works perfectly for both options. To be completely honest this has replaced the actual light in the room I dont even touch the light switch anymore i just grab the remote and pick a colour (I recommend a dark orange on the lowest brightness setting its beautiful). There is 2 negatives I can think of, the price obviously, would be nice if it was about £50 and the angle at which it sits, Its sits and points at about 45 degrees so you have to put it a few feet away from the walls which can be impractical at times, but I just balanced it in a way that it sits behind my TV pointing 90 degrees upwards and I have no issues with it really. Oh and if you think your going to get a detailed instruction manual forget it, The pictures and instructions make no sense whatsoever so I just threw it away and played around with it for an hour until i got the hang of it. Last detail people might want to know is can it change colours automatically the short answer yes but you wont use that setting, Its pointless and kind of annoying, You end up just picking one colour and sticking to it until you get bored

What a great piece of kit for making lighting interesting and effective.
This was bought as a birthday present for my daughter. She likes to sleep with a light on, but not too much light. We've struggled to find something that would work as a light in the evening and then double as a night light. This is perfect! It's much bigger than we thought it would be, it's the size of a small football (not a tennis ball). It goes from pretty dim to quite bright and the ability to change colour is fantastic. The remote is not as intuitive as it could be, but once mastered very easy to operate. Having two presets is very handy, especially if you find a particularly nice setting. If you want a light that can change according to your mood, be used as a night light and a general light, have a remote control and a capability to be controlled by your phone (with one more purchase) then this has to be your "must purchase"! It's brilliant.

Iris: A great delight
The Iris is a great mood light, it's well constructed and very lightweight, good for transporting it to different rooms. It can easily light up a small to medium sized room just on it's own. By pointing it slightly towards the centre of the room with a yellow or white light, it will provide enough light for reading and can be treated like a normal lamp. Having the remote definitely makes it more fun and convenient to use than on the smaller models with no remote. It uses radio frequency so you can be in a different room or floor and still be able to change the light with the remote. To change the colour speed during Auto Mode, you just rotate the wheel clockwise for fast and anti-clockwise for slow. A great tip I've found is that you can assign/save the Auto Mode to one of the favourite buttons (by holding the button 5 secs while in Auto), this means you don't have to keep doing the 360° + 'I' button method which can be a bit tedious. You can also turn the light on by pressing any of the favourite buttons. Some slight criticisms would be the fixed power lead, I would of preferred a separate cable with a jack connection like on the previous generation model as it would of been more convenient to move about and hook up in tight difficult places like behind in between a desk and a wall. With it being fixed to the back you also have to be more cautious not to accidentally yank the cable. The manual like most people have commented on isn't very clear, It's recommended to check the online manual where it includes description to the diagrams and also information about how to use multiple lights with the SmartLink technology. The Iris provides a nice ambient to any room it lights up, it's one of those items where anyone can use it and enjoy the benefit it brings. It can be used for special occasions, parties or just for any normal day.

Please read all before taking conclusions
To start, i just want to say that this purchase was a really pleasure; it arrived quickly (1 week to Portugal it's good!), with Amazon tracking service and was extremely well packaged!!! I love lights with effects and i chose this because i think it's a good start. It gives a very good ambient to my living room. I read here some bad reviews about the construction of the remote and saying that it's not possible to control more than one with the same remote. I don't go against them because they say that their opinion is based on their (better) experience with the previous version (Gen 2) and as i do not know, i believe in what they say. On the other side, maybe because it is my first LivingColors, i like it very much and i'm not regretful with it. Regarding the supposed impossibility of not being able to use more than one LivingColor with the same remote, i contacted Philips before buying it and they said that it is possible. Here is their answer: "I confirm that it is possible to control multiple Living Colour lights using one remote control, it is also possible to use one light using multiple remote controls. If you have multiple LivingColors at home, you can all use them with just one remote control. To connect the different LivingColors to the same remote control, follow the instructions below: Hold the remote control close against the Philips logo on the lens of the product, then press and hold the “I” button. The product will flash 3 times. Hold the “I”-button for approx. 10 seconds until the LivingColors displays a green light. It is now connected to the remote control. The maximum distance between the unit and the remote control needs to be 5 cm. Repeat this procedure for every product you want to add to this remote control. After connecting all of the products to the remote control, you will be able to let them all change colour at the same time. The same colour will be displayed by all of your LivingColors products by only using one remote control."

Funky, fun and useful
I have quite a few Philips products, so when I needed a backlight for my TV I had no hesitation in buying this. I was a bit confused between the different models of Living Colors but went with this larger model, assuming I could always dim the light if needed (which you can). Thankfully, set-up and operation was simplicity itself. I was primarily using it during movies to avoid fatigue and add a bit of mood lighting ('80s blue during The Terminator, etc.), however, since rejigging my living room I've been using it as a lamp in the same position and it has coped admirably. It creates some really nice, warm hues with the right amount of vibrancy. You could easily pick it up and reposition whenever you fancy. I've knocked a star off because of a few caveats. Number one, the remote is disappointingly plasticky. As you touch this to control it I think it's a large error - must do better! Number two, it does occasionally 'stick' on a colour and take its time catching up. And lastly, because of the range confusion: for some people choosing which model to pick may be hit and miss. That said, I am very happy with it and it does what I want of it with minimal footprint, which is a definite bonus!

Love it
I dont usually do Reviews of stuff I buy but here goes, I bought this as when watching TV or a Film of an evening the small corner light we would have on ( Halogen style Bulbs ) was to bright and would glare on the TV screen even tried moving the light round the living room same result, I would get up and turn it off but would then get complaints its to dark in the living room. So I have been looking at theses ( all Models ) for a while, This one was on sale for £74 at the time and I had some vouchers so it only cost me £43 so I decided get it and see what its like. It was a bigger than I thought but wasnt a problem. I found a suitable home for it and set it up quickly instructions are now the typical pictorial type but thats fine by me I tend to not read them any way as I have a nack for picking up how electrical items work quickly. Set it up cycled through the colours found 2 we both liked and set them in its memory, that night we tried it properly and well all I can say is happy all round, it gives out enough light were I could read by it if I wanted gives the room a nice feel and doesnt glare of the TV screen or any other object. I feel it was a good buy for what I payed for it. Would I pay the £160 retail price NO, would I pay its current price of £102 I would have to concider it TBH and given the initial lighting problem I had I would but I would not pay any more for it.

Amazing
Ok, so not a big one for writing reviews, but thought this product was worth a positive review. I read the reviews on here and while I agree with some (in fact most), just to clarify a few things. The biggest problem that has been reviewed about is the remote control being fiddly to work out. I did not find this the case. I am a huge gadget fan and you only have to have a play for a bit and it is pretty much self explanatory. Top and bottom buttons makes it brighter or darker, left and right buttons means more colour or less. If you want you just turn the dial to get the colour you want. I've never had the gen 2 or 1 of these, so I'm just looking at it from a brand new concept rather than from someone who has ordered an updated one. I'm photophobic which basically means I have a few problems with both artificial and natural light, it has a tendency to bring on a migraine if I am exposed with too much of either, especially when the light is bright. With this in mind, I did read a lot of the reviews and thought, this is a really good idea as I am in total control of the amount of light I want. If I want to read a book in the evenings (especially in the winter months) I can adjust the amount of the colour it shines to less of a pinky hew (which I have to admit I quite like) or if I just want to crawl up on the sofa to watch TV then I just make it a bit more pink / red which then gives a nice ambience in the room. I don't have white walls, but again I've not found this too much of a problem you can just play around until you get the amount of colour or light you want. Hope this has been of some help to anyone looking at this product.

A great buy
I snapped this light up as a bargain on Black Friday and am very pleased with it. It gives a lovely warm glow to my living too and is very easy to use. I am rather addicted to colour changing lights, but this gets top marks. The colours are bright and can be dimmed or sharpened depending on your mood. You can set a single colour or so it cycles through. Looks amazing! I bought it to back light my tv, which stands on a wooden unit. It is out of sight, but still manages to brighten up a dark corner. One thing I would mention is that it is quite a lot bigger than I expected. That isn't a criticism, but be aware - if you have a small space, it may not fit a as its a good few inches in diameter. It is perfect hidden behind something though. Highly recommended for anyone who wants to colour up their life!

NON ACQUISTARE!....’.’’
Gran porcheria.
