This protractor is good and better than the Rega type which only has one setting for alignment, this has two to align up for more accuracy. It way bring your cartridge slightly mor forward in the headshell.

Works very well, and despite what other people may say, it is much better than a piece of paper printed off the internet. There are two scales printed onto this piece of light weight plastic, with a hole at one end to place over the turntable spindle. By positioning your cartridge stylus onto each scale, the protractor indicates how to adjust the cartridge within the headshell. I had already set mine with the card protractor that came with my tonearm, but this Ortofon tool found that the cartridge was slightly twisted and needed re-adjusting. Okay, it is not cheap for what it is, but shop around on Amazon to find it as little as £5. Seems to be false economy to me to spend £100's or more on a turntable/tonearm/cartridge combination and then set it up with a piece of printed A4 paper? But then some people are still listening to CD's or even worse, ain't they?

No real instructions but after a quick youtube tutorial it's very easy to use, though not great value for money (especially as I'd already aligned it by eye and got it bang on!) It is an essential for fitting a new stylus though to make sure you have it right.

Bought this to check alignment of a goldring 1042 cartridge. I had done a good job of this back in the day using a mirror and finding the non parallelex position. However I had never really trusted my positioning. This simple tool works by placing the end with the hole over the spindle on the turntable and placing the tone arm with the cartridge on to two marked points on the protractor and then simply align the cartridge with the tram lines on the protractor as you look down on it from above. This tool takes all the guess workout out of a sometimes fiddly job. There are other ways of aligning the cartridge but this is much easier by far. It is a one of purchase for something you can use for a long time so it's not that dear and from a reputable hi fi company. I don't think skimping on this type of tool is worth it as alignment is key to the functioning of a cartridge. Recommended and good luck !

If you bought a brand new cartridge then you need a protractor to adjust it properly. If you don't adjust it, the sound will change in detail and intensity from one of your speakers to the other as you listen to your records. This is so easy to use and I can't recommend it enough!!

Does the job fine but I found the alignment was same with the one I printed for free online. I just had to be sure but trust me there's no difference.

It seems providing suggestions in my original review as to why the item was half-folded goes against the guidelines for what a review should focus on, so simply, my piece of card 'tool' arrived with a whacking great kink in the middle, making it rather unfit for purpose. Efforts to flatten it back out were hindered by it being made of halfway decent, plasticised card. While my experience isn't necessarily what others would have, it's something to consider.
