Nad's Brazilian & Bikini Wax Kit

I was slightly worried when ordering this based on there being quite a few 1 star reviews, and I'm used to a salon wax each month, but desperate times call for desperate measures (quarantine). The wax did take longer to melt in the microwave than stated, but that wasn't really an issue, and the instructions are very easy to follow. The process would have been even easier had the hair been shorter, mine was around 15mm. It took me around an hour, and when comparing that to a salon wax of around 25 minutes, I think for a first attempt it's very reasonable. As I'd seen someone suggest on another review, I used a thicker stick to apply the wax, similar to those used in salons. I would say that you may struggle more with this if you have not previously had a salon wax, as I just did what I have seen my beauty therapist do with regards to removing and pulling the skin. I actually thought it hurt a bit less than a professional one, which is probably because I did smaller patches, and was more prepared for the pain rather than being comfortably lay on a beauty bed. I will definitely use this product again, and my flatmate has even ordered herself one too. The end result was great!

The reviews on this product seem to fall into 2 categories, those who are new to it (and mostly hate it) and those who have used it for a long time (and love it) I have used it for 18 months now and I wouldn't use anything else. That doesn't mean my first time was easy, but for once I learned from my mistakes! The wise guidance given on other reviews should be followed. Namely, IGNORE the instructions. A full pot does take about 4 mins in the microwave but you should check it often (I've melted a pot before now!). Make sure you stir it, to even out heat distribution, and always test on a non sensitive area first. And "Yes!" expect to reheat it a few times. Remarkably, wax sets unless you keep it warm! A full wax now takes between 1 or 2 reheats, but it used to take me 4 or 5 when I first started using it. If this is your first time using wax yourself then start small until you get a feel for it. The spatula is great for applying the wax, although the thin one in the pack is next to useless. Having applied a small area of wax you must wait until it has only just set before ripping it away (you can test by carefully tapping the applied wax). It is a good idea to 'roll up' a small edge of the wax whilst it is still soft, to give you a point to hold onto when you pull. If you leave the wax to set for too long it will break as you pull, which is irritating and more uncomfortable. Once you know what you are doing you can make the sections you wax larger. Overall hair removal is excellent. The whole process is much easier if you have a willing helper, but failing that invest in a good mirror, bright light and yoga lessons! A few sheets of kitchen roll on a towel are a wise precaution as you tend to be a bit messy when you first use it. The wax itself smells lovely and causes no irritation to my skin (nor to my other half, who has stoically braved a wax!). There are just enough 'after wax' wipes for the size of the pot and they are very effective at removing small wax residue and calming the skin. Any redness I have experienced has always died down in under 24 hours. If you find you dont have enough wipes then some baby oil on a kitchen towel works very well. As for the various 'stick on' shape templates.......well they are pretty useless. They don't stay on as you wax, so my advice would be to use them as a template and draw round them with a felt tip pen (even permanent marker gets removed with the enclosed after wipes). It really is much easier and is also a great tip if you want to create your own design as it allows you to check before you start waxing. Overall, it's great, but does require patience. I just wish they hadn't removed the lid from the wax pot. At least when it had one I could confidently carry the wax from the microwave to upstairs. Clearly they think we should all wax our bits in our kitchens! And always remember.....NEVER leave the application stick in the wax when you've finished. You can't get it out and it burns if you try to microwave it in the pot!

I’ve used waxing strips before, but this was my first time using this particular product. It’s definitely very effective, but I found it quite tricky to use the first time around. It takes a bit of practice to get the right amount of wax and to know how long to leave it on. Once you get the hang of it, though, it does the job really well!

I don’t normally write reviews ever but this really annoyed me. I have used this product years ago to wax and it was great. I decided to buy this recently and it was a quick delivery. However I feel the quality of the wax has decreased. The formula just doesn’t seem the same anymore. I read the majority of the reviews which disliked it but as I had used it before I thought there would be no issues. Firstly it said to heat up the wax for 60 secs, that did nothing at all. I had to heat it up for 4 minutes 30 before it actually melted. Secondly the spatulas were way too thin, they should have provided the normal size which would be used at waxing salons. Thirdly instructions said to wait for wax to dry for approx 30 secs after application, no longer than a minute max. This wax never actually dried enough for removal. Even after a minute it was still sticky, it peeled off in bits so it was just a hassle to work with. I ended up stopping and just using the post wax cleaning wipes to remove the wax that wouldn’t come off properly. It don’t feel like the genuine product was sold. If it was, then I’m sorry but it’s not worth your money or time. Basically if I could have returned (can’t for hygenic reasons) I would and request a refund.

Update Ordered this for the second time, now bought some of those waxing stripes too, as i am still experimenting home waxing. It is SO much better results with the stripes. I admit, I use more wax with the stripes but I now can do a full Hollywood wax at home. Next adventure is to try the home made sugar wax 🙃 I've been going to the salon for hollywood wax for years, it is not cheap, but i feel it's essential. i tried couple of wax before, none of them seemed to be good, either too liquidish or just didnt stick to the skin properly. This wax is great. you pop it in the micro, a minute or two are ready to apply. I've used it twice now for hollywood and i am very happy. with the fraction of the salon's price it gives the same result. I've seen some reviews people saying it's not working, I suspect they just dont know how to apply / peel off, it IS working and working well. No more £30 hollywood salon wax for me.

Due to lockdown I thought I’d try to wax my bikini line myself. I had read all the reviews of this product, and having been to the salons for years for a bikini wax, thought I knew what I was doing. Wrong! I read the instructions thoroughly and prepared a bed of newspaper. I put the wax in the microwave for 60 seconds, but it was hard as a rock! Then another 60 seconds, nothing! But I noticed that the microwave plate was getting very hot, so I put a saucer under the wax pot. Another 30 seconds and the saucer started getting hot. The wax just started getting a little soft. Another 30 seconds, the saucer is now too hot to touch and the wax is finally starting to melt. It took another 2 minutes for the wax to melt, so 5 minutes instead of 1, and the microwave was burning hot! There is nothing wrong with my microwave by the way as I use it quite a bit and normally it cooks to time. Disaster number one. I stirred the wax thoroughly as stated and the temperature was fine, in fact still not that hot. The wooden spatula is much thinner than the ones you see in beauticians, so you can’t apply that much at a time, and if you’ve never done it before it takes a while to become proficient, so I had a go a few times a creating a swirl at the end to grab hold of as instructed (something beauticians don’t have to worry about as they are using strips). As I became more proficient I tried longer strips, but I could never match up where I had been before due to the uneven nature of the wax. Leaving the wax the right amount of time before removing is also a difficult task, as I hadn’t put it on evenly all the way through, so it had dried at a different rate. I know it was my fault for doing this, but it shows that it is not easy for beginners to get it right. Maybe with practice it would get better, but in future I’m looking for something easier like strips, with the right amount of wax already on them. I will say that when it worked, it worked, i.e. it did remove the hair and it didn’t hurt me at all (but then I am used to being waxed in this area), but when bits of wax drip off the spatula over your pubes, or you can’t get the swirl at the end to grab hold of, or your hand are so covered in bits of wax that it becomes hard to even hold the spatula any longer, it’s all a bit of a disaster (number two). You finish up with a calming oil wipe. I mainly used this to get the scraps of wax out of my pubes and off my fingers. But it was at this point that I also noticed the nasty bruising coming up! I have no idea what it was from as I never bruise from waxing, and I have tried other home waxing strips before and not had this. Disaster number three. So would I recommend Nad's Brazilian & Bikini Kit, I’m afraid not. But that’s not to say that it won’t work for some.

YOU NEED A MICROWAVE TO USE THIS PRODUCT, take that in mind ;). I tried this product once in London, I use it for my armpits and for facial hair, because I don't deal good with the pain on the legs or on the bikini area, but its a very gentle product, I like that you can re-use the wax. You have to be carefull because if it's to hot you are gonna burn and if it's not to hot then it would harden too fast, it grabs a LOT of hair, is amazing. I would recomend to trim the hair and go for small sections.
