AMAZING read, but sad.
I got it used but it was amazing quality. Very good book and quality, I found it a little bit sad from a mums perspective but a wonderful read regardless!!

Masterpiece, great book for all ages. Just not for grinches...
I have been reading a few negative reviews about this book. I think for everything sweet and special in our lives, there will always be a grinch to try spoil it. What can I say, some people just don't have the imagination to be humans. I myself as a mother to 2 lovely grown up boys, I absolutely love this book, of course I won't be crawling into their bedrooms or stoking them or climbing ladders at an old age to go to their beds and try carrying them....but that's beyond the point! My oldest is 21 and getting married soon, everytime I look at him,I see a new born child looking back at me with those big brown eyes,I feel the need to have him back in my arms at that same age. They will always be my babies,I can never see them as adults because a mother looks at her child with her heart and not only her eyes. I am struggling in a very hurtful way to let him go, I know it's natural and they have to leave the nest one day, but my heart can't let go. I chose them over everything and everyone,I still do and always will. I lived my life for them in every way and I will die for them in a heartbeat. This is the time mothers feel the greatest pain of all,the day we let them go. All those thoughts of where they are ,are they safe, are they warm are they hungry, are they sad....it goes on for ever. I can't shut my eyes at night until they are all safe and home asleep. So yes, this book is exactly what that bond between a mother and child is,no matter what age they are. I got a copy and gave it to my son that's about to get married,I will do the same for his brother and my grandson. And yes I cried like a baby and I do everytime I read it. It's only natural.

Classic from Friends lol
Was really pleased with the condition this book came in! It was a gift for my sister’s son as we both love that episode of Friends where we heard the book being read lol

Can't read without seeing Joey Tribbiani in my head
I buy my daughter a lot of books from Amazon, but I have to admit, I only bought this because I recognised it from the friends episode "The One With the Cake" and I wanted to see what moved them. It's a very repetitive language and rhythm and it's maybe a little bit strange how the mother is always sneaking into her son's room (even as an adult, through the window to cradle him...) but it's just all very innocent and even if people don't physically do that to their grown up children, I guess it's just showing how that love for their safety and cuddling their sleeping form from birth never leaves you. It is a very bitter-sweet story, but my 2.5 year old seems to have a understand the context of death and I can see it resonates in her, but she is SO over the moon to see the love passed on from the mother to her son, to his daughter. Different, but still touching.

Loved this book as a child, Love it as an adult
This book has a special place in my heart. My grandma used to read it to me as a little girl. Watching the little boy grow up and having his mum sneak into his room for cuddles and singing him "I'll love you forever, I'll like you for always, as long as I'm living, my baby you'll be". She even comes to cuddle him after hes moved out. Then mom gets sick and her son does it and goes home after cuddling his mom and singing to her and does the same to his daughter. Fantastic story about how little traditions are passed down in families. It meant the world to me as a child as my grandmother read it to me all the time. I remembered the line of the book and when I had a son of my own I bought the book. Just like the song, this story becomes a tradition that is passed down and cherished for generations. Lovely little story, but everytime I read it now I think of my grandmother and my son and it all hits me at once and at the end of the book when mum gets sick I always get a tear in my eye.

Brace yourself for tears at the end!
An emotional wreck after reading to my 4 year old son during his bedtime routine. The book was such a beautiful and well written book, a great read albeit left my 4 year old son balling his eyes out when we reached the end. Such a beautiful read for a mother and son.

Buy this if you (the parent) want to cry. It’s a great book about the circle of life and the unfathomable depth of love between parent and child. 10/10
