Nice Neat Little Uplighter
I've just purchased two of these uplighters, one to go either side of an inglenook fireplace. I ordered the black to blend in with the hearth, and because they are really tiny, they're very easily disguised, and offer a good strong light. As far as I'm concerned there are two negatives to this item, the first is inserting the bulbs. You are supplied with a little sucker type hook which you apply to the glass of the bulb making it easier to manoeuver into place, however the second sucker just kept slipping around the bulb surface, so I was glad that I'd bought two. The second is the price, as they really are VERY expensive for what is basically just a spotlight, but it seems that this type of light always sells at a premium, and this is one of the cheapest I could find.Overall, a good little light, that serves the purpose.

A nice little up-lighter
This is a nice little uplighter that sits on our sideboard in the corner of the room, almost unnoticed. It sends light up across our off-white wall onto our white ceiling and scatters the light around the room. It does not flood the room in bright light, it just produces a pleasant background light, just right for settling down to watch a Scandi-drama on TV, or sitting in front of our wood burner chatting with friends.I can remove or replace the bulb within a few seconds, but then I've been handling small electro-mechanical components for most of my life. I can understand that many people will not have the manual dexterity (or the mental patience) to be able to do this. But if it helps anyone, here is my method. To remove the bulb; place the light on a flat table in front of you. Cup the light in both hands, as if you were warming them on a hot mug of tea. Slide your thumbs up and onto the surface of the bulb (thumbs opposite each other, at roughly 3 o'clock and 9 o'clock positions). Apply downward pressure on thumbs and rotate bulb counter-clockwise about 90 degrees. Carefully tip the lamp assembly so the bulb drops into your other hand.To fit the bulb; place the light on a flat table in front of you. Look down into the light. Rotate the light so that the large, circular part of the two slots (that the bulb plugs into) are aligned vertically ( at 12 o'clock and 6 o'clock positions). Now pick up the bulb so that the two pins are also aligned verically. Lower the bulb carefully into the light so it remains upright and central (this is where the rubber sucker is helpful). Rotate the bulb gently just a few degrees clockwise/counter-clockwise until the bulb drops into the socket (no force is required, the bulb connector pins just have to be central to the socket). If the bulb does not locate easily, take it out and try again. The bulb glass should now be below the surface of the light (maybe by 6-8mm). As before, cup the light in both hands, and use your thumbs to rotate the bulb 90 degrees clockwise.

Superb
This is so dainty but fabulous light. Bulb a bit tricky to put in but apart from that Iโm absolutely delighted with this product.

Bright but fiddly
This is a bright, simple and well constructed light but has an important design flaw. I bought this to replace an aged sturdy floor uplighter bought from John lewis over 20 years ago, which had finally given-up the ghost. It was of a similar design to this replacement save in one important respect, the ease of insertion and removal of the bulb. The bulb socket of the JL uplighter was on a length of wire and could be moved (having removed a retaining ring) which eased the insertion and removal of bulbs. This replacement has no such mechanism, which makes the whole process fiddly and somewhat annoying. The manufacturers supply a flimsy suction-cup to aid the process, but it really isn't up to the job, so one id left with trying to complete the job with fingers. The light produced from the LED bulb is, however, very good. The unit is attractive, the length of wire (with the inline switch) is of a good length and all in all, for the price, this is a good buy, if you can cope with the fiddly aspects of the design.

Does the job it was designed to do - and takes a Philips GU10 Hue lamp
Although advertised as a floor uplighter, it is really better placed above the floor, mine stands on a speaker cabinet. Fitting the lamp is easy with the supplied tool, and is possible just using fingers to press and turn the lamp - which is just as well as I fitted a Philips Hue GU10 lamp which has a Matt top surface and the tool wouldn't stick to it! The Philips lamp fits the lamp body perfectly without protruding over the top. The item does the job it was designed for and seems well made.
