This guide to linocut printmaking is excellent for those learning to create art for the first time right through to advanced printmakers. Every aspect of the process is described clearly, depicted with lovely photos and step by step instruction. The author effectively presents detailed instruction for getting started with simple linocuts all the way to multi-block, relief and experimental prints. The focus is on making the reader truly successful as a printmaker with loads of inspiration from the author and interviews with other professional printmakers. So creatively inspiring and practical at the same time! Excellent!

I am a linocut printmaker with about five or so years of experience. That being said, there are still techniques I have not tried, and wanted to find instruction for. Sam's book is perfect for the beginner, or the experienced printmaker. She explains the tools and materials you will need to begin, then instructs you on how to start, as well as gives you specific projects to work through. I'm about half way through the book right now and I am looking forward to learning more ways to do multicolor prints.This book has helpful and beautiful photography all through out it. I highly recommend "Linocut: A Creative Guide to Making Beautiful Prints."

I was so excited to receive my copy of this book and it more than delivered! I first learned of Sam Marshall through her Instagram and after seeing her work online, I was thrilled to find out that she had written a book!The artwork in "Linocut: A Creative Guide to Making Beautiful Prints" is gorgeous and so inspiring! Along with a ton of useful information (especially for someone who is new to linocutting like myself) there are a ton of step-by-step project ideas that can help you if you're ever wondering where to start or stumped for inspiration. It is such a great resource!

I have been wanting to learn how to do linocuts for a while. This book is very helpful to get you started on this type of art. Keep in mind that the author is British so some of the supplies listed are not available in the USA but it’s pretty easy to find comparable products. I can’t wait to start my first project!

This is a wonderful book, especially the author's advise for an artist, but I also find it almost impossible to read. The main text is light gray and small. I'll keep it as a good reference, but wish that I could sit down & read it through.

I’ve been slogging through YouTube tutorials for the last few months trying to learn the amazing art of Linocut printmaking and have had the excitement and knowledge sparked by the tutorials but a lack of confidence to move forward with any kind of momentum. I knew I needed a step-by-step, easy to understand, all the info in one place type of book. And here it is! All of the info and precise color photos of each step of each technique. This will be a book I can come back to over and over. And BONUS- for further inspiration and info I am following Sam on Instagram where I can see her work in reels and more photos and also get answers to my questions. #printisnotdead 😏

There are helpful tips, supply/tool suggestions, and plenty of visual inspiration on every page!I wholeheartedly recommend this book for anyone interested in block printing.
