Ingenious toaster & STEAMED egg cooker
Love having a dippy egg and toast for brekkie but was frequently deterred by the palava involved in boiling a solo egg on the hob. Was in the market for a new toaster and intrigued but sceptical ...would it be another hardly used kitchen gadget? And there were better looking toasters available. Then the price dropped to ยฃ39 so I took the plunge and so glad I did: makes perfect toast and soft boiled eggs in 4 mins, the latter by steaming rather than boiling (so it's even healthier than the hob method for nutrient retention). Up to 4 eggs can be steamed together, the mini pan can poach one egg (remember to spritz the mini frying pan with oil) and I've used it for steamed mushrooms too. The toaster also deserves a shout-out: 4 clear temp settings instead of the usual 7 setting ambiguous dial: level 4 gives the best brown crunchy toast of any toaster I've owned, although it is slightly slower. Top tips: 1) Remove soft eggs as soon as the cycle ends or they will continue sitting in their sauna and quickly go from soft to set. You need to be vigilant as there is a no sound to indicate the eggs are complete (the red light just goes out) and the toaster has normally poppped about 30s before. Conversely if you need to leave the room while it's cooking and can't be sure of an on-time return, reduce the water so that they don't over-cook 2) If toasting only one slice, use the back slot 3) The quickest way to eject burning toast is by switching off the toaster ;) 4) The best way to clean the water reservoir is with a spritz of white vinegar which brings it back to shiny in one wipe once cooled. 5) READ the instruction booklet before use: this is not a bog standard toaster and it's worth doing that to avoid melted parts or badly cooked eggs. Sharing a pic of my first go at toast and soldiers to show how easy it is.

Brilliant!
The wife loves all aspects of this device - especially the consistency of both the hard boiled and the poached eggs it does for her every day! Toaster is also good - a bit powerful so adjust the settings conservatively - but gives a nice even overall toast to the bread. The Baked Bean Warner DOES work and is acceptably hot - unless you prefer to boil your beans?! - so happy to use this if or when needed (albeit infrequently in our case). Overall, very impressed and a great addition to our kitchen. Will look out for further versions and enhancements - as we use this every single day I canโt see it lasting forever, even though itโs design and build quality are very good in themselves. Definitely worth a purchase!

Good but could be better
I used to have the same kind of toaster from an American brand when I lived in the US. I really got used to my breakfast sandwich, so I thought I'd get one here as well. It's a good toaster, and easy to make your eggs/beans with it as well. I also like that it is very easy to clean; you only need to wash the egg/bean dish. There are 2 differences between this one and the US version (in appearance, they look exactly the same), and I think in both, the US version is superior. 1. The US version does not release the bread until the egg is ready. The heating element turns off, so it doesn't get burned, but it still has enough heat to keep the bread warm until the egg is ready. I really liked this feature; the Tefal version doesn't have it. 2. What is more important for me: the "egg dish" in the US version is much smaller in diameter. Which means that it would be hard to heat beans in it (too small), but I don't do that most of the time anyway. On the plus side, however, the egg ends up being the size of a breakfast muffin, which then makes for a perfect breakfast sandwich. In the Tefal version, the dish is larger, and despite the little notch that would suggest that the egg would just stay in the middle, it doesn't. So you get a thinner, large-diameter egg, which is too big. I'm still looking into how I could get the tiny dish.

Best gadget in my kitchen
Love this toaster/poacher and have been using for years now - am onto my 4th one. Surprised itโs not advertised more as when Iโm raving about it, no oneโs heard of it! Particularly useful for a one person household to quickly make your breakfast whether itโs toast with a poached or boiled egg or beans. I do my poached egg with a layer of cold meat and topped with some grated cheese and paprika to make a filling breakfast, brunch or lunch. Easy to clean and not that much bigger than a normal toaster.

Bad purchase
Toaster part stopped working. Burns the bread and then one has to retoast.. not a good buy

Still experimenting
Looks good. Was all safe in its box when delivered but, was only in its box with no other surrounding box and no Seals on the box. Toast well but you have to make sure your bread is that same or smaller size to fit, as its just a standard size to fit an average loaf. One of the gripping wires inside that grips the bread failed to move as the others. Toasted very well though. Tried 2 eggs as instructed in the booklet, (soft boiled). This seemed to be the problem at the moment as the eggs were nice and soft yoke but came with running egg white. Recooked one egg for a couple of minutes and still running egg white. Again you have to find the right size egg for better results!

Good and reliable product
For normal slice of white bread, just set to lowest number 1, good enough for me. Remember to clean the tray, ants love the left over on it.

Eggs undercooked every time
I used to have a Toast n Egg years ago and it was brilliant - perfect eggs every time. This version however delivers undercooked eggs every time. Even when using enough water for a single, hard boiled egg it will yield an undercooked egg with partially raw whites. Iโve tried smaller eggs, room temp eggs, piercing vs not piercing, and they are results are always undercooked eggs. The poaching option isnโt great either because even after greasing the pan, the egg sticks to it. Waste of money.

Toast n egg maker
Like that you can cook toast and egg at the same time, but even if you spray the pan prior to putting in the egg it sticks to the pan when it's cooked which makes a mess getting it out, otherwise quite happy with it.
