KS2 English Year 4 Reading Comprehension Targeted Question Book - Book 1 (with Answers) (CGP Year 4 English)

The passages are engaging, and the questions encourage children to think carefully about what they’ve read. Having the answers included is really helpful for checking work at home. It’s well organised, easy to follow, and has been a great way to improve my child’s reading confidence and comprehension skills. Excellent value and highly recommended.

This book is a fantastic resource for Year 4 students. The reading passages are interesting and age-appropriate, and the questions really help build comprehension skills. Cgb books are brilliant, we used them for most subjects as clear and follow curriculum

This comprehension workbook is great for at home. The questions are clear and gives a variety of text-types as examples. I would say that some of the fiction texts aren’t as easy to answer unless you know the full story already because it doesn’t explain what is going on in the book prior to the excerpt that you read for questioning i.e. the Peter Pan excerpt starts mid-conversation when he has arrived at the Darling’s and is trying to encourage the children to go with him to Neverland. The questions ask the reader about how he attempts to ‘lure them’ to Neverland but the excerpt doesn’t include the context for why Peter is at the house, making it confusing for the reader and necessary for a helper to explain the context. All in all, you can’t fault CGP workbooks, but this is something I’d bare in mind.
