Review: Great, great series and really HBO SAVED Martin from ... - Great, great series and really HBO SAVED Martin from himself. I read the 1st book when it came out in 1996, then waited and waited and in 1999 and then again in 2000 got the 2nd and 3rd novels, then five long years before the fourth book and then SIX years for the 5th book and two more to go (at least). If Martin dies before he finishes I'm going to try some black magic and see if his zombie can finish the series. Now back to HBO's vision, which is true to the spirit of the books, if not always the letter. Definitely the greatest bit of fantasy ever put out on either TV or movies, in fact the production values are equal to any Hollywood blockbuster out there. Great heroes, great villains (sometimes it's hard to tell which is which) and characters you'll care about (at least until they are killed off). The HBO team that brought this series to life has done a masterful job, the series is at least as good as the books and that's high praise. Thanks to HBO I got to journey back to Westeros and not worry about when Martin was going to finish the series, but just enjoy the ride. Review: Chu! Chu! All aboard the hype train! - Originally when I first watched Game of Thrones I was not that interested as it was to violent for my taste. However a few years later as I matured, I thought I give it another shot as everyone seems to love it. So finally I gave in to all the hype and boarded the hype train and I absolutely loved it! Well I knew I would because this is very similar to Lord of The Rings in some aspects. But to be fair I prefer Game of Thrones any day. (please don't hate me for saying this I still love Lord of the Rings lol). The story is rich, full of unexpected twists and turns, as well as great action sequences and unexpected character deaths. It has great special effects and creativity. As well as great acting. I watched the first 3 episodes online and thought that this shows to good for this, I will have to watch it on Blu-ray! So I did. Now the packaging of the set is ok; as it is two big blu-ray cases: seasons 1-2 in one case and season 3-4 in another. And both cases are put into a nice user friendly box. However the lit of the box will bend and crease but that should not be a problem. However I thought they could of designed the packaging a lot better, but thats the least important thing here. Oh and WARNING: The show contains strong gory violence and disturbing scenes through out the series so I do not recommend this to people with fragile minds. But it is only a show so it shouldn't bother you too much. MINOR SPOILER WARNING: watch out for a scene near the end of season 3. I'm warning you so you don't get absolutely crushed like I did lol. (A Friend actually warned me about it so I saw it coming and it still crushed me, so I'm glad she warned me. So I thought I do the same for you guys)

Oh yes
We had never watched this and were largely oblivious to all but references to it and enthusiasm being apparent. We gave in, bought the set ...and watched it back to back. Brilliant, addictive and series 5 on wish list. GoT gets you!!! Brilliant actors, wonderful yarns and action, some stuff of epic proportions and all brilliantly imaginative and executed. Some bits explicit and violence graphic and bloody but it all fits together. Also interesting for costumes settings artefacts etc embracing a mish mash of cultures and parts of (pre)history: instead of a criticism that too is a compliment to the production's imagination. Love it

Great Show in Great Quality!
I have already seen the show but wanted to buy a boxset so I could own it myself and rewatch older episodes. I decided to go with this older secondhand boxset as the newer versions are very expensive. I was a little worried about buying secondhand but it arrived in great quality with all disks included. I highly recommend buying this boxset as you get the entire first half of the series (often said to be the best seasons by fans of the show) in excellent Blu-ray quality which for a show like this is definitely worth it and for much less than newer boxsets. The only downside is that you'll be changing disks a lot if binge watching the show but I suppose this is a sacrifice made to fit all of the episodes onto the disks and if you only watch two or three episodes at a time it isn't too much of an issue.

Brilliant series
I was lent seasons 1 & 2 a couple of years ago but never got around to watching it until last week and now Iโm hooked. I decided to buy the box set with all four seasons before finishing season 1. Iโm not one for collecting dvds so may sell it on after finishing the series. I figured that it will be easier to sell on as a set. The story is gripping but you have to concentrate to keep up with whats going on. Stand out character for me is Tyrion played by Peter Dinklage, he plays this part to perfection. Still got another 2 seasons to go and I donโt want it to end

... see how TV land interpreted this weighty and well enjoyed series. Pretty bloody well actually
Having read all the books I was interested to see how TV land interpreted this weighty and well enjoyed series. Pretty bloody well actually. Great cast and very close to the novels makes for happy viewing. Watched three series while I was off sick from work. About the only thing I could manage was crawling to the DVD and coughing up phlegm. It brightened up a damned awful week. Almost as good as a bottle of Lucozade and three packets of Lemsip.

Very good Extras
The image quality is what you would expect from a bluray. What completes the experience are the extras. Bios of Characters, Locations, houses etc. BTS on major points in the series. Audio commentaries from cast member to production staff. Most of the lore will be known already if you have read the books, however they are still interesting. I would recommend for any fan, or newcomer, the extra help a lot with info not in the series.

The soap to beat all soaps
The soap to beat all soaps, I'm a late comer to G o T and can only stand in awe at the genius of the series. A multi storied labyrinth delving into the deepest and most basic of man's emotions and actions. The prize of the Iron throne is at the forefront but with so many other issues, family, loyalty, revenge, love, passion, scheming, betrayal & friendship are just a few. No character is sacred, the twists and turns are fascinating. Yes there is a lot of violence and nudity but in my opinion all within the 'style' of the series. I defy anyone to watch 3 consecutive episodes and not get hooked, If anyone decries it ask them first of all if they've seen it as most who don't like haven't actually seen it!
