It is hevy and robustly made. One arm of the clamp fits over a wheel bolt/nut and there are different adapters for different sizes. The clamp then slides shut and locks and seems very secure. Howevere you need to have either alloy wheels or plain steel wheels as the clamp will not fit over plastic wheel hub covers. **Q: If this clamps on the wheel nut and tyre, if the tyre was deflated could the clamp be removed?** A: Hello again Hubby says not possible as the whole is clamped onto the wheel-nut and braced to floor. There is enough adjustment on the width to clear the 225 tyre when fitting, and then to clamp up the wheel clamp tightly. It is nearly at the maximum when fitting over the wheel bolt on the 16" wheel, and I had to rotate the wheel slightly (i.e. move the vehicle an inch or so).
