All good.
Yeah, no problems here. Hammies are using it fine and seem satisfied.

Rats love it! Great multipurpose ledge.
Despite the recent reviews mentioning a petrol-like smell, I decided to purchase one of these for my 3 rats as a means to help keep their claws filed, as I know in the past they've been highly recommended. When mine came, it definitely did have some kind of chemical smell to it-- but it wasn't strong enough to be a concern in my opinion. That said, my parcel was left outside in the shed for a day so that may have allowed it to 'air out' a bit.Prior to the lava ledge, my rats didn't take much interest in chewing anything in the cage. They didn't seem to care for any of the wood chews I bought them. But, within less than a day from attaching this to the cage, they had nibbled all around the edge of it! It's still perfectly intact and sturdy, can handle the weight of 3 young adult rats with no problems, and it seems to be a big hit with them. I see them sitting on the ledge very often, chewing away at the pumice or using it to get into their sleeping pod. It hasn't made a huge difference to their claws in my own experience, but I imagine with constant use it it will certainly be better than nothing.Overall, I would definitely recommend the lava ledge and I will be buying another one in the future. If yours comes with a strong smell, leaving it outside (even in the packaging) for a day should help!

Great for elderly rats and keeping nails trimmed
Use in my rats enclosure primarily to keep nails trimmed, I pop them under all water bottles. Saves the stress of having to actually clip them. The last year, as some of my rats have become elderly, I've used them as stairs so they can all climb to the top of a double tier cage to their hammocks. I have about 14 of the ledges in use at any one time. I could add a ladder but this keeps them more active.Mine generally don't chew them but they do get mucky. Trying to find a way to deep cleaning without using chemicals that will harm the furry beans. I currently have to replace them regularly which isn't ideal given the cost.Only big issue is the fact 50% of them are broken on arrival, I have to glute the metal bar back into ledge before usable.

Great for many rodents!
My Degus, my rats and my chinchilla all have one in their cage! They love them!

nice
got a few for my two rats and they work really well and are really secure, wish you could choose the colour but it doesn’t really matter too much as long as it does its job and makes my rats happy

Smells *very* chemically strong.
I bought this after it being suggested on youtube by many many rat owners, when it arrived I got the pink one which is alright. It is a very bright colour.Once I took it out of the package I could smell this very odd, almost like floam (if you remember that colourful glue with the little styrofoam balls in it) and I was very sceptical to be honest about putting it in my rat cage. I put it in anyway, mostly to give them something to climb on and it seems to be helping with the length of their nails, too.So far they have not been chewing on it, which I'm glad about really. The chemical smell has somewhat faded away, but it is still there.I'm unsure if I would 100% recommend this for your rats, or any other animal, really.
