Convenience and transparency - A superb next-gen network tool
For the simple ease of plugging a Fingbox into your network you instantly get piece of mind in such a convenient to use solution that provides you instant transparency as to who/what is connecting to your network.I use this on my home network, sure I could use my DHCP MAC address blocking but the Fingbox is sooooo much more convenient as provides more feature in one place.I think for my level of user, where I have a technical background but don’t want to be logged into my router (DrayTek Vigor 2862AC) fiddling with too many settings all the time, Fingbox provides a fantastic service and set of features.- No subscription- Port scans my network (it allowed me to detect that my DrayTek leaves port 443 open by default!!!)- I know when the family are home because Fingbox alerts me when the leave and return.- Speedtest provides me with an indication of my broadband performance.- Bandwidth analysis of devices although this does have to be run per device manually.- New device alerts- Decices that come near your network but don’t necessarily join are detected (Digital Fence).Sure there are a few things that need changing and adding but my sense of Fingbox support is that they are keen to make changes...- If you have multiple WiFi networks pointing to the same LAN Fingbox sees these as different networks so duplicates all the devices.- The Speed test often fails and you can only have it perform the test on a schedule of 6 per 24 hour period. You can manually run them at any time.- The Digital Fence sounds like a great feature but I am struggling to see the value. The results is just a list of devices her were net your network and sure you can put alerts on them but the results seem to get muddled with existing devices on my network - surely all I care about are new devices? Perhaps my multi-WiFi network where Fingbox duplicates the same devices is throwing Fingbox into a confused state?Things I’d like to see...- WAN service up time - would be great if Fingbox kept an eye on the up time of your WAN, with a simple single connectivity check every minute or similar.- Grouping of devices, at the moment you just get a big long list.- The UX is ok but a little bit muddled, for example you see your network in both Devices and Networks yet tapping on each provides a different view - it just takes a bit of getting used to.- I wish there was more of an online community talking about Fingbox in the Fing website. It would be great to hear from aging themselves about new plans and when new features will be released.Conclusion- Overall I love my Fingbox and have got a lot out of it initially. I expect my excitement will wain a little but it does provide me with confidence that I now know what is going on with my network.- I would like to see more new features released more often. I have only owned the Fingbox for one month however.

From 5 stars to 1. Fing decided to strip all functionality and resell it as a monthly subscription
Edit: Leaving original review below. The fingbox is now useless as none of the functionality works without a new forced monthly premum subscription.Yes you're reading that right. EVerything you've paid for now needs to be paid for again...Monthly.Don't get fingbox it's not worth it.I absolutely love fingboxes. So much so I have multiple now.The original reason I bought this was that I desperately wanted an internet connectivity tester. I got fed up with having unreliable internet so bought a fingbox, in hopes it'd tell me when the internet connection was down and back up.Well, it does indeed do this. It does take a while for the fing notification to come through, but the fingbox itself will glow orange if the internet connecticity is down. This was so handy I ended up buying anotehr for my parents so that I knew if their internt connection went down (as it often does) so that when they call me to ask me to fix it I know straight away where the issue is).Not only does it do this, but it also reports local internet issues so you'll get notifications that Sky are upgrading the network, or have a falt affecting the area, which is very handy. You also get a map showing internet issues around the continent. However the added benefit that I didn't even espect is this thing does so much more. IFTTT support. POE Support (via 3rd party POE splitter). If you assign the devices on your network to people, you get notifications when they're home or not, which is very handy when you live in shared accomodation. You get notifications when new devices are added to the network. You get notifications when your devices individually go offline. You get a built in conenction test that runs automatically and allows you to see average speeds and how it changes over time. You get vulnerability reports every time net ports are opened on your firewall (very common with iphones). You get intrusion protection protecting you from intruders and wireless attacks. You get a log detailing all of the above over time (which you can even link to a google sheet via ifttt). You get the ability to suspend individual devices from accessing the internet (very clever Syn flood technique) so if something is hammering your conenction, you can stop them from abusing it, without even needing router access! There's probably even more, I just love this thing. I'm a big fan of individual alerts when things go online and offline. if my backup server goes offline I know about it pretty quickly, so no more failed backups without realising.Works great with a gigabit POE splitter! (No power cables needed)

Surprisingly useful, if a little expensive
I'm a gadget freak and a technologist. The fingbox was shown during a presentation, I was intrigued and bought one. A little high priced for a toy, but I plugged it into my home network and installed the application. It was very easy to set up and found some potential security issues with my network and, later, some performance issues. It shows a bunch of interesting information in an organised and understandable way and is easy to use. I recommend it.

I am not an IT person but I found it easy to set up and use
This is a very clever home network monitor. I am not an IT person but I found it easy to set up and use. i particularly like the parental controls for access to the internet for certain connected devices so you can manage Children's access etc. It also has great features for measuring WI/FI signal around the home as well as Internet speed monitoring. There are loads of other features and more on the way as Fing develop the product.. Compared to the purchase of a network monitor and firewall the cost, while expensive, is not overpriced for what it does.If you only have a few network devices this isnt for you, but if like me you have allot then this bit of wizardry is great!
