Shashibo DODECA Magnetic Puzzle Cube, Stress Relief Fidget Toy

Fun, challenging, relaxing. Strong build. I love it and so does my grandson at 4 years old. Appropriate for all ages.

Just unboxed today, it arrived while my 5 year old was having a meltdown and couldnt be calmed, I started playing with it next to her and in a few minutes she calmed down to ask 'whats that?' She asked to play with it. Now been playing with it for an hour and a half. Found a shape she decided looked like a spaceship, been playing with that ONE shape for the past 20 mins. I liked playing with it, she obviously likes playing with it. The movement is smooth and the clicks are satisfying, its regulating to see the patterns form and feel it shift. It seems high quality, the stickers are very strong, its heavy for its size, its been dropped multiple times already and seems totally fine. Seems too difficult for my 3 year old, or maybe she just needs to get the hang of it, but shes tried to force the stickers the wrong way a few times and it hasnt broken. Really pretty toy, I got the 'Fire Goddess' cube and the designs go well together. Honestly it was worth the $25 just to calm that meltdown and give us a couple hours of peaceful, regulated play. If it can repeat it itll be worth its weight in gold. And Im sure Ill still enjoy shutting my brain down with it sometimes. Do recommend!

This is a great fidget-type toy/ puzzle that is easy to take on the go, visually pleasing, and entertaining for the kids. We love having this in the car for long car rides!

My son loves these fidgets, this is our 3rd one. He likes these shapes but unfortunately the stickers are coming off. We bought this one as a replacement for one where the sticker completely came off one of the triangles. They’re pricey and I wished it stayed on a little better. However my son is on the spectrum and literally plays with it every day, for a good chunk of time, so it’s worth it for me.

I bought this for a grandchild for Christmas. She loves this kind of thing and I thought she would enjoy it. They are a little steep in price and I must say, I was a bit surprised when it arrived in a tiny little 2.5 x 2.5 inch box, (From the pics, I was expecting something about double that size). I wanted to be certain I was getting a decent quality item, so I removed it from the box and started messing around with it to check quality and entertainment value. Well, we are now 3 days closer to Christmas since it arrived and I am no closer to getting back into that 2.5 x 2.5 box it came in. It is ridiculous how many times I have tried to fold it back into a tiny little square! To be honest, I simply feel frustrated with the whole damn thing. I even had ideations of tearing it apart and gluing it back together. (Then I remembered what I paid and I thought better of it.) The quality certainly seems decent. I am basing that on the fact that it didn't come apart yet and I think I have folded it every which way to Sunday. On the upside, my granddaughter is probably going to love it! She is just 9 yrs old, but will probably get it back in the box in 5 minutes!! So, I guess what I am reluctantly saying, is that I think the entertainment value is there. I still have 20 days to get some help (probably from a kid!) with getting this back in the box it came in. Otherwise, I will find a new box to wrap it in and keep the old box - so I can show the granddaughter how it looked when I got it. It is a little embarrassing that I have found this to be so difficult. But, I am trying to be transparent here and forewarn you that UNLESS you have some help from a genius (ok maybe exaggerating there), DO NOT take it out of the box to try it out if it is a gift for someone else! If they weren't so darn expensive, I would have simply just ordered another one and kept this one for my dumb self. 😜 EDIT: 01/24/23 - I did order a second one for myself (and company) Mind you, I did not even get it out until several days after Christmas. Today is the 24th of January and so we maybe had it opened 3 weeks. It has been played with quite a bit by kids and adults alike, however it is tearing apart at one of the seams. So, frankly we are a bit disappointed for spending $20 on something we thought we would enjoy a bit longer. After only 3 weeks, it is clear this one is not going to last much longer. I guess on the upside, $20 is really pretty cheap entertainment these days, when you consider the cost of going to a movie or bowling, eating out or any other activity. We probably did get at least $20 worth of entertainment, but still. 😢

It was smaller than I thought it would be, but nevertheless, my granddaughter loved it and was fidgeting with it all evening!

I got this for my son, who's 7, and it's been a great purchase. He loves experimenting with all the different shapes he can create — it keeps him engaged and off screens for long stretches. On top of that, it's held up really well to daily use, so the durability has been better than I expected for a toy like this. Would definitely recommend for a curious, hands-on kid.

The “puzzle” is mesmerizing upon the first few inspections and explorations. But there really isn’t anything to “solve;” only shapes and permutations to discover. It can be a bit challenging to rediscover a shape or to reach it in ever shorter times and moves, I suppose; or you can race an opponent to a set solution if you both have your own cube. But I was left less than satisfied. The intrigue soon wore off, although I still mess with it if I’m a bit bored or need a distraction or mild mental stimulation. The maker wildly exaggerates by saying you can make 70 shapes. I’m thinking they have a very loose definition of “shape,” and are including an endless array of irregular asymmetrical shapes that I regard as merely transitional between one fixed shape and another. I think they also include what I call unlocked forms - the magnets don’t hold the form in place and it may collapse if you don’t hold it in position with your fingers (often with two hands required). Maybe they are even counting some forms twice, since they are “shaped” differently when viewed from opposite perspectives. In terms of fixed shapes where the form locks into place and you can rest it on a surface and have it stay that way indefinitely, and counting each distinct form as only one, regardless of its appearance from different angles, there are maybe only a dozen or so; certainly not 70. I have not looked into the app that goes along with this toy. Maybe it makes the play more engaging or challenging? But to me, for a fraction of the cost, twisty puzzles like variations on “Rubik’s” cube, pyraminx, mega minx and X-cube, etc. provide superior mathematical and spatial reasoning challenge. I suppose it makes a good fidget toy and you can smile as your 5-year old says “Look Mom, I made a new shape,” regardless of whether the discovery has any symmetry or pattern to it, in much the same way you smile when someone presents you with all of one color on a single side of a 3x3 magic cube, incorrectly arranged, yet triumphantly announces that they’ve “solved” one side. Okay, sure. As the puzzles are displayed on the listing, it’s difficult to see what the images of each one is really like, so it’s difficult to choose which design you want to get. They need to fix that, so that as you go through the images for each design, you only see shapes that were made from that particular color scheme or theme.

The quality is great as it is an original Shashibo product. But, it took a lot of time to come as it is an internationally imported product

Fantastic piece of engineering and design. Bought two for my girls with ADHD for Christmas and I personally couldn't put it down. Keeps them and me entertained and disconnected from screens. Already purchased another 3 to add to the others (2 for me of course!) to see what funky shapes can be made by adding up to 6 to the mix. Outstanding product.
