Acctim 14722 Vian, Red LED Alarm Clock

I needed a clock to replace one which had started to lose time but I needed it to be mains powered and with battery backup in case of power cuts.After much searching and dismissing various contenders for various reasons, ie. physical size, size of numerals, brightness of numerals and a few other reasons, my choice finally came down to this one. It has large numerals which are not too bright, it's a nice size for a bedside shelf or cupboard and it's ease in itself to use.The alarm off switch is something I take care in looking at. Many clocks have a switch where the alarm off position is central between 'alarm set' and 'alarm off' or some such arrangement. I find it can be awkward trying to position a small slide switch in the middle of two other positions. This clock is perfect, having the 'alarm off' position at the bottom of the slide switch, meaning that you just have to slide the switch to the bottom without wondering if you've got the right position.The alarm is a bit gentler on the ear as well, starting off with a ta ta ta ta ... ta ta ta ta ... ta ta ta ta, and slowly building to its full alarm.All in all, a very nice clock which does everything required .... and does it well.***** Update *****Yes folks, exactly 3 months on and I've ordered another. I don't really need to as the clock it will replace is still working (even though I have to jiggle the alarm set button a few times to set it) but I just much prefer this new Acctim with it's large numerals, compact case and ease of use. Says it all doesn't it :-)

All I wanted was a simple digital alarm clock that would have a visible time and allow me to snooze a couple of times after the alarm went off.Well that was much more difficult than I was expecting! I didn’t want to have to clap to make the time visible, I didn’t want the time projected onto the ceiling, I didn’t want to be gently woken up with daylight or by soothing whale sounds (Ok that last one doesnt exist as far as I know). After searching through what must have been every digital clock advertised I finally found this one – it tells the time and has an alarm to let you know when its time to get up!I like that this clock is compact but the numbers are really big. They are easy to see when waking up during the night but also visible in daylight. There is a snooze function which will silence the alarm for 8 minutes at a time.The slight negative is that there is a small sliding button on the back of this clock that is used to set the time and alarm. You have to switch off the alarm and then switch it on again to reset it for the next day – this is a little fiddly and easy to slide the button a bit too far.This is a simple digital alarm clock that does what I wanted it to do!

A simple, straightforward alarm clock with large, bright readout. It is easy to set and operate while the alarm sound is clear enough to wake me even if I am sleeping on my good ear (I am deaf in my right ear) - the sound is not too jarring and increases in tempo if the snooze button is not pressed or the slider switch set to off. The clock represents excellent value for money although I have some minor criticisms but they are not sufficient for me to rate the clock with less than five stars.Criticism 1: the large readout is generally easy to see even from some distance but I find the numerals are too close together so that certain number combinations become somewhat cramped looking - for example, in the minute section the number 18, because the number 1 uses the right hand side of the seven section LED block, places the 1 next to the left hand side of the 8 with very little space between.Criticism 2: the four position slider switch used for settings, which generally a neat and effective control device, is somewhat small and some may find it a little tricky if they have arthritic finger joints for example.Criticism 3: The lightness of the clock and the relative stiffness of the mains lead can create instability - a more flexible type of lead would be preferable.

Click is easy to use but description says battery included. Which is not included 😕

Lovely compact neat white clock, but not flimsy. Numerals are large enough to be easily seen at night without specs which I wear all day. Red light much better for you than blue which can disrupt sleep and this is the best one I could find with red light as most seem to be blue or green. I would have liked a dimmer but not that much of a problem, as I cover it up and would have done with any clock, being an odd person who only sleeps well(ish) if I keep the room as dark as possible.Good value for money too.

This isn't a bad product, it works well and the numbers are big & very clear.However, as a bedside clock which I bought it for - in my opinion the numbers are just too bright and there is no option to dull them in the night.Literally, it was so bright and red whilst I was sleeping it felt like I'd fallen asleep in the red light district!I'm sure this is good for lots of other uses - but too bright in the middle of the night for me.

Easy to see time on front of clock but very fiddly using the switch on the back of clock. Would be better with separate controls to set time & alarm. Would not recommend & switch extremely small

Great clear alarm clock. No ticking, which was important to me, Easy to use with a snooze button and easy to set up with a cable to the mains but a backup battery system should there be a power failure. Turn off round the back which does require you to think where it is when you first wake up but that does ensure you are awake which is surely the point of an alarm clock! Very clear time but not too imposing light wise so a very good little alarm clock. Only recently purchased but perfect so far.

Wecker kann nicht in Betrieb genommen werden, da das Netzkabel einen drei-poligen, in Deutschland nicht verwendbaren Stecker aufweist. Wecker geht retour.P.S.: Wecker kann nicht auf 24h-Anzeige eingestellt werden, nur AM/PM
